We Are Where We Are...

Post by daybrown »

which is like on a choppy foggy sea where we can hear the surf, and know a storm could blow up at any time to destroy our ship of state. There constant debates on which way the wind is, has been, or will be coming from, and which way hidden currents are going. Friends in the engine room say the oil pressure is low, we are low on fuel, and they think they can hear a rod knock. But the boys on the bridge want full speed ahead.

The band plays on for the balls of the 1st class, dancing as they always have, while there are whacko wretches hunkering in the lifeboats cold and wet saying there's an iceburg ahead. How the fuck would they know? No matter where you go, you hear a different story, and beneath it all is the barely perceptible sound of surf.

The captain exudes confidence, but we all know he dunno where we are going. The geeks cant agree on what is on the radar. Nobody is all that sure its working properly anyway. First class dont like the arrangement of the deck chairs and keep people busy moving shit uselessly around.

There seems to be a preference for cabins that are closest to the lifeboats, and some who want to stock up a boat now and get off, adrift, to wait for clearer weather to decide which way to go. But a storm could blow up any time to make that dicey. So many rants, all day, every day, make it hard to sleep at nite. No way to tell if any of them really know where we are.

That is why I am glad I live in the SE Arizona Ozarks. Friends are farmers and craftsmen living the old way, sharing what we have and what we know. For Christmas we are gathering at our complex of buried truck trailers by the irrigation pond out in the no man's land alley between back forties. There at Camp Armageddon we're going to shoot ducks and roast them over pecan wood coals, serve them up on oat straw planks, sip a little rum, chew a bit of the old Amitas and enjoy good times in fine company. This is the new world dawning, the echo of Kucha and its wisdom passed along the Dung Trail so long ago, reborn. Life is good. Happy holidays.

Was at an X-mas gathering of Christians. Admittedly, haven't been out of the house in awhile (leading a hermit style of life). Nothing but an eggnog of lies. Almost spewed. The contradictions, massive. One of the pastors, "God cannot be reached through numbers and meaning(?)..." Basically, what we've defined as God can't be explained, but we'd like to present it to you that way. Flashforward to a video montage and music. And what do they present? Prophets (idols), using numbers! Haha. ? (Anything to spread the emotion (confusion) I suppose). And wouldn't you know it, next frame, an owl flies away...

Whole thing was extremely lame. But quite an eye opener. At the end of the service, we were asked to huddle together. Sunday night football style. Oh. The cleverness of these priests. And..."Chant, Jesus!"

Damn.

Saturn was a lot more fun. And since sheeple seem to have to have a religion anyway, then maybe we could help craft something that was more fun, less dangerous, and less damaging to the planet. Not that I expect that anything we do would get the 1st class to slow down consumption and think more about where we are headed, but we mite be able to make 2nd class more comfortable- at least until the proverbial SHTF.
