Yup - competition for attention. Most women, in my experience, want what they cannot have and despise what they can have.Tomas wrote:.

I have been studying why relationships involving sex become a mutual love/hate split.

Mine has been going strongest for 40 plus years with no end in sight. I've not thought about cheating in all those years. When one has the best - why concern oneself with another? A mutual friend of ours has asked why I didn't seed my girlfriend's twin sister (as she has been barren during her child-bearing years) to which was replied: it would have meant that I would have the responsibility of sisters being rivals for my affections. Just doesn't equate from my line of reasoning. The girlfriend had thought about that in her early 40s when we had our last one, but put it off as her sister & mate had adopted several as their own.
Most men, in my experience, are never satisfied with what they do have.
I thought this would never happen to me but I am beginning to lose all faith and hope in humanities capability for truth let alone honesty. It is just about darn near impossible for me to have a single conversation(not with you) on the net, in person, or in any relationship without the lies spewing from a soul that craves to hide and yet be adored - very odd indeed.Of natural-course there are disagreements about trivial and non-trivial matters but the overall picture had been placed in motion by mutual respect from our wonderful, understanding fathers. They had both been around-the-block with multiple "girlfriends" before they settled down to marry virgins (our mothers) and that was that. We both were provided with sit-down, birds-and-bees talk, at age 13 so we were allowed to see life from a better perspective than the public school kids who we would have gotten a different slant on real life from.
You sound like you have the exception in a relationship.
I have not yet found a women capable of honesty - just being real.-Beingof1-

Apocrapha -- Sirach 7:19 Do not deprive yourself of a wise
and good wife, for her charm is worth more than gold.
I mean, until a human realizes that dishonesty is beneath them, I will remain completely isolated from the stain of infection. I find it impossible to have an ongoing relationship (of any kind) with a person that fails to allow the light of truth to purge them from all deception. I acknowledge the frailty and pain of the revealing of the base nature but to deny reality is to shut down any healthy communication.-Beingof1-
We cannot put our faith in another human as this will set us up to fail.

Sure, it's to work on every waking moment. (the devil -judgment- is in the details)
The funny thing is, most people that I have to deal with think I am dysfunctional in some way because I tell the truth. I am not one to be foolish with truth or hurtful. I mean, simple honesty about anything.
This is a deadly poison to the soul and the cure is bathing in the light of truth.

Apocrapha Sirach 6:14-17 .. A faithful friend is a sturdy shelter: he that has found one has found a treasure. There is nothing so precious as a faithful friend, and no scales can measure his excellence. A faithful friend is an elixir of life; and those who fear the Lord will find him. Whoever fears the Lord directs his friendship aright, for as he is, so is his neighbor also.
