Jesus by Deepak Chopra
Jesus by Deepak Chopra
I picked up this book because the philosophy section of the Cole's bookstore had nothing in it and I was hungry for reading material. It was either Deepak or Joel Olsteen or Sylvia Browne. At any rate, I'm finding it to be an entertaining novel, and I'm not big on novels. I guess its a fictitious story about the life of Jesus Christ between the ages of 12 and 30. Although it is fictitious, Chopra is plainly drawing on his knowledge of the scripture.
Re: Jesus by Deepak Chopra
Ten or so years ago Deepak was the hottest thing. I guess, like many 'wisdom' authors, he said all he knew in the books he wrote (and on Oprah), and now he's just about obscure. A lot of the hot wisdom books do not become classics, I guess.
I'm thinking Ekhart Tolle is on top of that heap at the moment, and has been for a while, and seems to still be coming out with new stuff. Before him it was Ruiz with the Four Truths, or some such.

Re: Jesus by Deepak Chopra
I rented a video by Chopra on enlightenment, and although I found it entertaining and thought-provoking I also found that Deepak crosses the line into fantasy, or so it seems. I have yet to experience anything miraculous and I suspect I never will, or if I did I'd be losing what sanity I have. Anyone here experience the kind of miraculous events Chopra writes about?

He's a phony, that's all you need to know.
Re: Jesus by Deepak Chopra
I listend to both of Ekhart Tolle's ebooks recently and was pleasantly surprised to discover that some of his stuff aint half bad. There is some really valuable kernels on Nonduality. Chopra on the other hand represents everything that is wrong about the New Agers and Eastern Metaphyical portrayals in the West, in my view. It is nearly 100% nonsense.Carl G wrote:Ten or so years ago Deepak was the hottest thing.
