Survival Orientation: A historically assumed precondition

Post by millipodium »

Pre modernist, pre-buddhist, pre-anti-thought thought had a desire to survive as an assumed precondition. The nihilism of modernity is just a manifestation of Western guilt propaganda.

Anyone want to argue about it?

I'd like to debate with you.

But first can you tell me:

Who are the american leaders of this invasive virulent movement that you speak of? (besides QRS and anyone associated with this forum)

Who are the evil shepards?

Can you give me some links so I can read about these evil nihilists of modernity who spread their guilt propaganda?

(besides QRS and anyone associated with this forum)

Mill, be sure to include actual names of the people you feel have caused america (and whereever else) the most harm (rather than generalize)

It would also help if you could provide me with some names of the people who you think have had the most positive impact on humanity.

you're arguing that "coceptual/abstract thought" is a natural evolution, right? there are numerous arguments to the contrary. it's not that we had a predisposition toward thinking; it's more likely that the self/other distinction (the crux of dualistic thought) was a sort of mutation tied to the rise of empire.

I'm glad you're main concern is fingering the perpetrators. It's comforting that you agree these treacheries are being committed.

Cory, you realize that the only reason the Millipede bothers to have an opinion at all is to have something to argue about, right?

So wrong, d. I'm here to save you guys from your own mindless nihilism and death orientation, And to counter your infection you're spreading with a pro human, pro life viewpoint. It's perhaps easier to dismiss me than to actually listen and comprehend. I threaten your delicately constructed house of bs.

I agree with Dhodges, he speaks just to feel the emotion of being in conflict with someone.

If I had to design an animated character of Millipede, I think I would design him as an indignant midget dwarf-gnome who carries an oversized cave-man style club.

Dave: Cory, you realize that the only reason the Millipede bothers to have an opinion at all is to have something to argue about, right?
I give people my attention if I feel they are really sincere and genuine about what they believe in.

In my experience, people who are really genuine and passionate are always very eager to share the names of people who influenced them and also the names of people who they think are bad.

I wanted to give Mill one last chance by inviting him to share his influences, his idols and his enemys.

I wanted to see if Mill could go beyond mere derogative labeling....
Milli: I'm here to save you guys from your own mindless nihilism and death orientation, And to counter your infection you're spreading with a pro human, pro life viewpoint.
Ok, we get that part Mill. Are you going to share with us your influences? Most of us on this forum have been influences by a variety of individuals who have had an impact on humanity at large. Who do you think is overated? under-rated? Extraordinary? Despicable? (like I said, avoid refering to anyone directly associated with this forum)
Mill: It's perhaps easier to dismiss me than to actually listen and comprehend.

Ok, well then please give us some sincere explainations, rather than mere opinions.

My influences? I'm not into hero worship. I didn't realize I was applying for lead guitarist.

Yes. Well. I'm a stunningly original thinker.

Isn't this sort of gossip beneath you? Anyway. I've been very clear; I think those of you who's rationality ends in buddhism are pretty stupid.

What do you want me to 'splain?

Explain this:
The nihilism of modernity is just a manifestation of Western guilt propaganda.
Explain what guilt propaganda is. And give examples from real life. Include it's origins.

Guilt Propaganda is propaganda designed to make people feel guilty. I shall not give examples from real life, unless you start denying it exists. Do you deny there are any memes in our culture designed to make people feel guilty?

before we get too caried away, answer me this:

Are you suggesting that 'Western guilt propaganda' is the disease, and that nihilism is merely a symptom?

Nihilism is the desired effect. The dissemination of guilt propaganda is the cause.

Mill: Nihilism is the desired effect. The dissemination of guilt propaganda is the cause.
So, are you advocating that in order to beat nihilism, we must remove the thing that is causing people to desire nihilism?

Im not advocating removing anything. I'm simply advocating making people aware that guilt is being foisted upon them. You might say I want to break the spell.

Are you saying that people should have no reason to feel the emotion of guilt at all?

Or are you saying that guilt in its raw form is good and natural, however, by using propaganda you can employ ideas to make people feel guilty about things they shoudn't feel guilty about (and thus control them)?

I'm saying some guilt is warranted, but some guilt may be unwarranted. There is much guilt that is unwarranted.

Let me get this straight,

You want to break the spell of nihilism by advocating awareness of how we tend to become unwarrantedly guilty and thus potentially nihilistic.
