I did. I have an entire book chronicling my dreams. I jot them down as soon as I wake up so I don't forget them, and I look at them later, trying to see if there is some kind of subconscious meaning in them. Mostly it's just regurgitation of something I read or a show that I watched that day, but sometimes there might be something for me to think about in there. I doubt there is a thing in it that would be of any interest to anyone else though.

and I count David and Kevin's books to be published, as they are published on the web, and many people have read them.

Any author worth his salt knows that it's one thing to say something, quite another to show it.

1otherS is just another misemotional twit who righteously alludes to some god-given, moral and intellectual superiority but who is, in actual fact, so afraid of an idea she can't even begin to approach one for fear it might suddenly go "Boo!" and frighten her to death in the night.

Don't worry, Elizabeth Isabelle, I know you're not an anti-Semite... :)

-There's still too much hostility in my posts, I'll give you that.

-I'm not so much afraid of the likes of Weininger's ideas as I am of their results, Leyla.

-What do you think of W calling psychologically deficient types "Jewish" and "feminine"? Don't you think he'd have done better dividing his thesis in "conscious" and unconscious" types?
Didn't the Otto-man engage in way too much mudslinging himself?

-Do you really believe the average woman gravitates towards bad behaviour and decision-making more than the average male? If you do, Can you argue this logic?

-I am male. Don't stereotype me into a "she" just because of some potshots I took at the QRS. Often enough, The trio gets personal too-are they suddenly "she's" as well for doing this?

I think too many people don’t have the attention span to read and comprehend a complete work FOR WHAT IT IS. I am more concerned by the fundy habit of (mis)quoting and misunderstanding out of context one-liners and the results of that, myself. Such practice misses the point ENTIRELY whilst, ironically, affirming it.
Don't you think he'd have done better dividing his thesis in "conscious" and unconscious" types?
Why? Do you think that doing so would have resulted in a local GP of mine not recoiling in horror when he saw my hairy arms and telling me that there was something wrong with me because I had too much hair on them, despite the fact that I was consulting him for my daughter's medical problem (turned out he entirely missed the fact that she had Juvenile Arthritis, brushing off her ache as a matter of improperly positioned sleeping)? Do you think I should wax them so I can be accepted as a woman? Do they make me a man?

Why, 1otherS, don’t you do that, or tell us why those that have done so are superior and in what ways? Would you like to discuss Freud, for example?
Didn't the Otto-man engage in way too much mudslinging himself?
Absolutely not. Anyone who’s read and understood him would not ask such a question. For example, here alone is the answer to that question:
Chapter VI—Emancipated Women
Sex & Character

AS an immediate application of the attempt to establish the principle of intermediate sexual forms by means of a differential psychology, we must now come to the question which it is the special object of this book to answer, theoretically and practically, I mean the woman question, theoretically so far as it is not a matter of ethnology and national economics, and practically in so far as it is not merely a matter of law and domestic economy, that is to say, of social science in the widest sense. The answer which this chapter is about to give must not be considered, as final or as exhaustive. It is rather a necessary preliminary investigation, and does not go beyond deductions from the principles that I have established. It will deal with the exploration of individual cases and will not attempt to found on these any laws of general significance. The practical indications that it will give are not moral maxims that could or would guide the future; they are no more than technical rules abstracted from past cases. The idea of male and female types will not be discussed here; that is reserved for the second part of my book. This preliminary investigation will deal with only those charactero-logical conclusions from the principle of sexually intermediate forms that are of significance in the woman question.

The general direction of the investigation is easy to understand from what has already been stated. A woman's demand for emancipation and her qualification for it are in direct proportion to the amount of maleness in her. The {65} idea of emancipation, however, is many-sided, and its indefiniteness is increased by its association with many practical customs which have nothing to do with the theory of emancipation. By the term emancipation of a woman I imply neither her mastery at home nor her subjection of her husband. I have not in mind the courage which enables her to go freely by night or by day unaccompanied in public places, or the disregard of social rules which prohibit bachelor women from receiving visits from men, or discussing or listening to discussions of sexual matters. I exclude from my view the desire for economic independence, the becoming fit for positions in technical schools, universities and conservatoires or teachers' institutes. And there may be many other similar movements associated with the word emancipation which I do not intend to deal with. Emancipation, as I mean to discuss it, is not the wish for an outward equality with man, but what is of real importance in the woman question, the deep-seated craving to acquire man's character, to attain his mental and moral freedom, to reach his real interests and his creative power. I maintain that the real female element has neither the desire nor the capacity for emancipation in this sense. All those who are striving for this real emancipation, all women who are truly famous and are of conspicuous mental ability, to the first glance of an expert reveal some of the anatomical characters of the male, some external bodily resemblance to a man. Those so-called “women” who have been held up to admiration in the past and present, by the advocates of woman's rights, as examples of what women can do, have almost invariably been what I have described as sexually intermediate forms.

Compare this to your comments on the matter and answer me this, in all honesty: who is slinging mud—you or Weininger?
-Do you really believe the average woman gravitates towards bad behaviour and decision-making more than the average male? If you do, Can you argue this logic?
Do you still find this to be a valid question in light of the above passage? If so, what are your reasons?

I just don't like Weininger calling women aiming for sincere emancipation sexually intermediate forms or always possessive of some male anatomy. He erred again on this part-very 19th century black and white thinking.

Go out in the real world, there's plenty of feminine women pursueing philosophic and intellectual goals even when it's completely unfashionable to do so.

e.g.

-Women with Muslim-upbringing deciding to become atheïst.

-Pretty women picking up a microscope instead of marrying the fattest wallet.

-Female entrepreneurship in general.

PS: I've read Sex And Character in full and I've drawn my own conclusions. Can you claim the same?-That's what I want to know...

Name just 3 such people working outside academia or a corporation (no, you can't include Leyla, dammit, because for one thing she's got hairy arms).

That's interesting,it's a fairly rare condition and my son suffers from that too, although it seems to have gone into remission the last 12 month. Before that he was on methatrexate for the previous 5 years.

He was also misdiagnosed when it first manifest in his knee. The gooses put him in a full leg caste thinking it was broken.

Your reason is because you don’t like it??? Did that stop your mother giving you things you didn’t like when there was a good reason to do so? Is it because you are a woman, a man or an intermediate form? How do you think an intermediate form might consider his thinking? Do you even think they exist?

It’s pretty pathetic, really. The man CLEARLY DETAILS the parameters of his thinking and rather than addressing those parameters, you simply state, “I don’t like it.” You heard of Pauline Hanson, by any chance?

Ah, yes—rather than approaching the question with actual reason, we borrow the valence of a dominant personality in the hope that we might just pull off the deception. I have noticed a few people here suddenly using the term “dude,” as well when they allude to some superior knowledge over their counterpart. You know, it begins with, “Dude…” Wanna talk unconscious?

Oh, you mean like in the boutique law firm I currently work for; or maybe in the hierarchical organization, in which the casual blue-collar job I recently took on to keep my finger on the labour pulse exists? Perhaps you mean the several larger corporations that I’ve worked for in the past complete with their ostentatiously furnished boardrooms and equally ostentatious Boards of Directors; or, perhaps you mean the several cutting edge sales and/or consulting firms? Public Relations, maybe?

Do you think I’m unpretty because I have hairy arms, 1otherS?

Of course, you cannot tell. So, I'll tell you: the answer is, emphatically, yes. It is the reason I can, in fact, accurately judge your—“thinking” so far as you have been prepared to reveal it to us. One such reason is the clear distinction I can make in regard to political emancipation and the kind of emancipation Weininger is talking about. You know, the distinction that frightens you to intellectual death…

There's absolutely NOTHING superior in your position, except in terms of its evasiveness.

My daughter has polyarticular JA (I don't think there's a single joint that was not affected). She's been on methotrexate for 6 years and still going, though the dosage has been reduced to the minimum. Been weened off, unsuccessfully, twice so far. We're hoping for a remission well before its usual end-date, somewhere in the early twenties.

What valence am I borrowing? I'm not claiming any superiority.

Weininger called the lowest of the male still higher than the highest of the female.

According to this logic, a male rapist and murderer ranks better on the morality-scale than a female Nobel Prize winner.

My question is: does this look like good sense to you? Isn't this absolute black and white-thinking?

Admittedly these stereotypes do exist, but they aren't the whole side of the spectrum. There are plenty of women taking a genuine interest in hard sciences...

I'm a heterosexual male: I'm attracted to feminine looking women, not unconscious-minded females.

I'm not claiming any superiority, I just have interpreted Sex And Character differently than the status quo on this board. You really shouldn't call me unthinking just because of this fact.

I wouldn't call myself intellectually frightened by Weininger either, I just think he tragically wasted his linguïstic talent. He should have put his claims through rigorous testing. If he had done this, he might've changed his thoughts on women...

Prove it.
I've put forth reasons why I DISAGREE with his thought-go to my previous posts.
It should be obvious that I found those "reasons" desperately WANTING, your inane assertions on the order of the above statement.
Weininger called the lowest of the male still higher than the highest of the female.

According to this logic, a male rapist and murderer ranks better on the morality-scale than a female Nobel Prize winner.

My question is: does this look like good sense to you? Isn't this absolute black and white-thinking?
Sure, in its context. Weininger was talking about consciousness, remember? Do you know how he relates that to morality?
Why do you have hairy arms?
Why does it matter?
Admittedly these stereotypes do exist, but they aren't the whole side of the spectrum.
What?
There are plenty of women taking a genuine interest in hard sciences...
And....?
I'm not claiming any superiority,
Definition of implicit?
I just have interpreted Sex And Character differently than the status quo on this board. You really shouldn't call me unthinking just because of this fact.
I am calling you unthinking because of the fact that you haven't demonstrated anything that could be considered thinking; not even any thinking behind your interpretation.
I wouldn't call myself intellectually frightened by Weininger either,
Well, actually, I was referring to fear of a particular distinction upon which Weininger focused.
I just think he tragically wasted his linguïstic talent. He should have put his claims through rigorous testing.
And your judgement is superior here because you never say anything that hasn't been put through vigorous testing?
If he had done this, he might've changed his thoughts on women...
Because...?

-You know I'm a heterosexual male, yet you call me a woman. This is mudslinging worse than anything I've ever done on this forum.

-You ignore my argument about Weininger. Can you give me the context of W's argument?

-I ask you once more: what kind of results did Weininger's thesis collect? Who are the kind of people attracted to his ideas? What happened to Weininger himself?

-Why did you decide to talk about your hairy arms?

-Women taking an interest in hard sciences and philosophy prove women are indeed interested in fields usually decribed as "masculine".

-I've never claimed to have the absolute truth at my disposal. Weininger and this forum continuously make such statements.

-Again, I'm not trying to play a game of "this=superior, this=inferior". All the assertions I make are at least supported by real-life experience.

-I'm trying to understand why Weininger dismissed the scientific method-why he didn't bother with detailed experiments. If he embarked on the empirical route, he could or could not have seen actual evidence of his claims.

The distinguishing feature between humans and animals is the power of reason. Reason itself delivers science. Thus, reason is superior even to science itself, which is a product of it.

When you understand a man's reasoning, you understand the essence of the man.

Weininger was a lover of truth. The scientific method doesn't approach the ideological question of truth. Had you no deeper yearning for the truth in that answer, would you be here arguing against Weininger or in a lab somewhere testing it?
