Why the seeker can never find

Post by unwise »

The person who sets out seeking enlightenment can never find it. Why is this? Because enlightenment does not come to a person. It does not come to the person who is the seeker. As long as a person sees himself as seeking, he is constantly in ego modality. Enlightenment CANNOT COME to one who is in ego modality. It comes AS A THIEF IN THE NIGHT.

Actually, seeking IS a necessary part on the path to enlightenment, but not for the reasons you suppose. Seeking is the beginning of the end phase of inquiry into the self. A person is to seek for a long long time. Perhaps many lifetimes. What this searching is to finally reveal to the advanced soul is that seeking is worthless and does not lay bear the goal. Then seeing is abandoned, but this is a VERY advanced stage of development.

It may or may not come to the seeker. A blanket statement that it won't is illogical and poorly concieved.

Don't forget to mention that at this stage poorly phrased uninspired pop new-age ramblings are to be expected to emerge from such advanced mouth-piece.

The seeker may seek but what will the seeker truly find?

I read that somewhere and have no idea what it means. I think it might have something to do with sports. Or maybe Harry Potter.

Without ego there can be no enlightenment.

Why, because there will be no counterforce with which to create the impetus to escape the hell of ordinary living.

Ego is the force. Will the counterforce, which must be harnessed.

And all this talk of no seeking is nonsense.

Ego is very important to enlightenment only in that you must eventually come to hate it. You will try and try to get rid of your ego with your ego - as all of you are doing here. That is fine. It is a stage. You must be ground down in utter disappointment. Then renounce your renunciation. After that the goal approaches you. It is never the other way around.
