Using 'WE' as 'ME' is a grand delusion of Universal physics

Post by Pincho Paxton »

Have you read sentences like this...

"We do not have the knowledge to understand such a thing..."
"Mankind will never know this..."
"It is impossible to ever know this thing..."
"No one really knows why this happens..."
"We will never know why this happens..."
"It is beyond anyone to know such a thing..."

Those sort of sentences are part of a grand delusion that no-one should be more intelligent by such a scale of magnitude than yourself. I really get annoyed by the use of those sentences, because nearly every time I read such words I have the answer already. There is nothing that you cannot figure out when it comes to the big questions in the Universe. You can work out all of the physics, and you can answer all questions. You can even figure out what happens when you die. Everything is physics, and everything can be worked out.

A variation on that theme, I notice that people often describe their personal experiences and feelings in terms of "you, or your." Seems like a small thing, also seems like not only a symptom of both imprecise and rigid thinking, but also a bit of arrogance in the royal we of assuming that as I go, so go all.

A customary, albeit transparent buffer between the experience and identification as the experience is to use the friend approach. "I have this friend who tried this theory ..."

Using pronouns to reference either of any two people during a conversation is shaky, three or more forget about it.

You have to love self contradictory statements. No point in getting annoyed. On one hand; it is humorous, in it's obvious contradiction. One the other more serious hand - it is an admission of a potentially dangerous mind. The type of mind set, through history, that burned so called witches, and heretics etc. It is the sign of a stunted intellect. So annoyed - no. Cautiously (remembering just what it says about an individual, who makes such a statement) humored - yes

I take my previous response back - by all means get annoyed.

Some thinking habits are indeed annoying - this one is based on a lack of knowledge.

In fact - a related* thinking behavior - speculation (especially taking action on said speculation) while lacking necessary facts in context does annoy me - no end.

Both share the obvious commonality - lacking in knowledge and substituting fiction - as a way of soothing the fear of the unknown and what is beyond their comprehension

So who am I to say what faulty intellectual process another should be annoyed at.
