Richard Dawkins V. Ted Haggard

Post by BJMcGilly »

The following video linked below is outright frightening, considering the stranglehold the weed of religion has on the people of America, and the world at large. A hero might say something must be done.

Ted Haggard is the preacher that just admitted to buying drugs (he swears that he threw the drugs away) and getting a massage (he swears that they didn't have sex) from a homosexual prostitute.

Ted Haggard is almost the stereo-typical representation of a devilish-evil entity.

Kind of eerie really.

The funny thing is is that I mistook Cory's post for being one of yours (a lapse of attention.) I then took your post to be either directed at Dawkins or redundant. It is getting late here. :)

Well, it's kind of funny because my post could be taken as speaking about either guy, depending on your perspective..

True, in the BBC piece I am watching now one of the journalists refers to Dawkins as an 'evangelist of science,' or something close to that.

The Ted Haggard thing was a perfect chance for sound biblical teaching to enter the soul of the church. But they passed on the opportunity for discussion and debate.

The evangelical movement is so phony and teach's unsound doctrine. They teach the world is only 6,000 years old at most, that Adam and Eve were the first man and woman, that you have to be "born again" to be saved, that "born againers" will be raptured, and so many other things in direct contridiction to the bible.

Everybody has access to a bible, but everybody is too lazy to read it, they rely on people to tell them what's in that book- rather than actually see for themselves.

The scriptures contained in the bible are easily proven to be from God, the supreme being, because it has information that actually "proves" God is.

Trouble is, that money grubbing decievers are in control of the church.

Have you taken your own advice? Because seriously? The Bible contradicts itself so many times as to... well... if it were normal literature it would be laughed out in no time.

Have any of you read Dawkins? He is not capable of philosophy 101, and yet, he is smarter than the authors of scripture that has lasted for thousands of years.

Rory:
Have you taken your own advice? Because seriously? The Bible contradicts itself so many times as to... well... if it were normal literature it would be laughed out in no time.
Oh yes; I have studied scripture longer than you have been alive - but you know more than I do, don`t ya?

Because cause and effect answers every question we have about existence - what a joke of true philosophy.

Greg Shantz,

1. God is satisfied with his works - Gen 1:31 - before the fall.

God liked himself.

God is dissatisfied with his works - Gen 6:6 - after the fall.

God has a self image problem and needs therapy from wise people on this forum.

Everyone knows God is manic.

2. God dwells in chosen temples - 2 Chron 7:12,16 - LIE
12. And the Lord appeared to Solomon by night, and said unto him, I have heard thy prayer, and have chosen this place to myself for an house of sacrifice.
God is working on his reputation. He needs sacrifices because he wants to show everyone he is bloodthirsty.
16. For now have I chosen and sanctified this house, that my name may be there for ever: and mine eyes and mine heart shall be there perpetually.
He doesn`t know if anyone will remember where he lives, thats why he needed a house.

God dwells not in temples - Acts 7:48

God is fickle - he cannot make up his mind. He keeps asking himself; "am I omnipresent or not"?

3. God dwells in light - Tim 6:16

God is enlightened.

God dwells in darkness - 1 Kings 8:12 - LIE
10. And it came to pass, when the priests were come out of the holy place, that the cloud filled the house of the Lord,
11. So that the priests could not stand to minister because of the cloud: for the glory of the Lord had filled the house of the Lord.
12. Then spake Solomon, The Lord said that he would dwell in the thick darkness.
The cloud confused God - he lost himself. He fell from his enlightened state.

Ps 18:11 - LIE
11. He made darkness his secret place; his pavilion round about him were dark waters and thick clouds of the skies.
12. At the brightness that was before him his thick clouds passed, hail stones and coals of fire.
He has a secret place to hide from the dimwitted.

Ps 97:2 - LIE
2. Clouds and darkness are round about him: righteousness and judgment are the habitation of his throne.
3. A fire goeth before him, and burneth up his enemies round about.
God needs a lightbulb to see the obvious that is missed by other people.

4. God is seen and heard - Ex 33:23
22. And it shall come to pass, while my glory passeth by, that I will put thee in a Clift of the rock, and will cover thee with my hand while I pass by:
23. And I will take away mine hand, and thou shalt see my back parts: but my face shall not be seen.
God only allowed Moses to see his bum. He wanted to check a mirror to see if he looked presentable.

Ex 33:11
11. And the Lord spake unto Moses face to face, as a man speaketh unto his friend. And he turned again into the camp: but his servant Joshua, the son of Nun, a young man, departed not out of the tabernacle.
God was not having a bad hairday and so he decided, before he revealed his hinder parts mind you, that he was lookin good that day.

Gen 3:9,10
9. And the Lord God called unto Adam, and said unto him, Where art thou?
10. And he said, I heard thy voice in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked; and I hid myself.
God could not find Adam - he decided to play his game of hide and seek, Adam was the winner.

Gen 32:30
30. And Jacob called the name of the place Peniel: for I have seen God face to face, and my life is preserved.
After wrestling all night with his identity, Jacob decided he should rename himself. He then attributed himself/angel/God to a face and preserve God`s image on money so people would not forget what he looked like.

Is 6:1
1. In the year that king Uzziah died I saw also the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up, and his train filled the temple.
When you see God - he likes to be seen in a regal way. That way everyone knows he is the boss.

Ex 24:9-11
9. Then went up Moses, and Aaron, Nadab, and Abihu, and seventy of the elders of Israel:
10. And they saw the God of Israel: and there was under his feet as it were a paved work of a sapphire stone, and as it were the body of heaven in his clearness.
11. And upon the nobles of the children of Israel he laid not his hand: also they saw God, and did eat and drink.
God needed to show off in front of very important people.

God is invisible and cannot be heard -

John 1:18
18. No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him.
John forgot that Jesus himself said "the pure in heart shall see God."

I guess he did not pay very close attention when Jesus gave the Sermon on the Mount.

John 5:37
37. And the Father himself, which hath sent me, hath borne witness of me. Ye have neither heard his voice at any time, nor seen his shape.
Only Jesus could see and hear God, those he was talking to - well - he was showing off. I guess when you are the Son of God, you have to show off once in a while.

Ex 33:20
20. And he said, Thou canst not see my face: for there shall no man see me, and live.
In verse 11 of the very same chapter :
11. And the Lord spake unto Moses face to face, as a man speaketh unto his friend. And he turned again into the camp: but his servant Joshua, the son of Nun, a young man, departed not out of the tabernacle.
I guess the author lost track of what he had just wrote in a couple of paragraphs beforehand. That proves it was a contradiction because the author could not make up his mind.

1 Tim 6:16
16. Who only hath immortality, dwelling in the light which no man can approach unto; whom no man hath seen, nor can see: to whom be honour and power everlasting. Amen.
I guess Paul, who had studied under Gamaliel, did not pay attention to one of the greates rabbis` in history. He overlooked the scriptures you are giving because - he was not that well versed in scripture. He did not know Moses saw God face to face.

They were kinda lax in their schools, you only had to quote, verbatim, the first five books of the Bible to gain entry. No child left behind and all.

I wonder why no one has seen these contradictions before? You must be the wisest person who has ever studied scripture - no one - has ever - seen these contradictions before - WOW - you are smart.

5. God is tired and rests -

Ex 31:17
17. It is a sign between me and the children of Israel for ever: for in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, and on the seventh day he rested, and was refreshed.
Hey; creating the universe is hard work, you should try it sometime.

Jer 15:6
6. Thou hast forsaken me, saith the Lord, thou art gone backward: therefore will I stretch out my hand against thee, and destroy thee; I am weary with repenting.
I know exactly how he felt - in fact; I feel that way right now.

God is never tired and never rests -

Is 40:28
28. Hast thou not known? hast thou not heard, that the everlasting God, the Lord, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary? there is no searching of his understanding.
I guess God got a second wind, listened to his doctor, and got plenty of rest.

6. God is everywhere present, sees and knows all things -

Prov 15:3
3. The eyes of the Lord are in every place, beholding the evil and the good.
I can relate.

Ps 139:7-10
7. Whither shall I go from thy spirit? or whither shall I flee from thy presence?
8. If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there: if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there.
9. If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea;
10. Even there shall thy hand lead me, and thy right hand shall hold me.
Well I never; God can be found in hell? You are promoting heresy.

Job 34:22,21
21. For his eyes are upon the ways of man, and he seeth all his goings.
22. There is no darkness, nor shadow of death, where the workers of iniquity may hide themselves.
If he gets as tired as I do, from inane 'enlightened' idiots, who think they understand when they are clueless, I feel sorry for God.

It is so easy to see behind the masks that those wear that are clueless. That mask is really ugly, because it pretends to be noble and is disgusting arrogance.

God is not everywhere present, neither sees nor knows all things -

Gen 11:5
5. And the Lord came down to see the city and the tower, which the children of men builded.
I guess he heard the rumor through the grapevine. He is still in charge of his intelligence apparatis and has a spy, probably even on this forum. He is real important, don`t ya know?

Gen 18:20,21
20. And the Lord said, Because the cry of Sodom and Gomorrah is great, and because their sin is very grievous;
21. I will go down now, and see whether they have done altogether according to the cry of it, which is come unto me; and if not, I will know.
This is right after he talked it over with Abraham. I wonder why he did not just listen to him? I guess he has trust issues and needed to see it for himself.

Gen 3:8
8. And they heard the voice of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the Lord God amongst the trees of the garden.
God is still not good at hide and seek. I honestly wonder why he did not use one of his spies to find Adam and Eve.

God - stumbling around lost - right after the serpent tricked him into creating a tree that messed up his plans.

Can you help him out and find Adam and Eve for him?

7. God knows the hearts of men -

I had heard he was a heart surgeon.

Ps 139:2,3
1. O Lord, thou hast searched me, and known me.
2. Thou knowest my downsitting and mine uprising, thou understandest my thought afar off.
3. Thou compassest my path and my lying down, and art acquainted with all my ways.
4. For there is not a word in my tongue, but, lo, O Lord, thou knowest it altogether.
I wonder how David knew that?

God tries men to find out what is in their heart -

Deut 13:3
3. Thou shalt not hearken unto the words of that prophet, or that dreamer of dreams: for the Lord your God proveth you, to know whether ye love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul.
God likes to find out how much your devotion is real.

Gen 22:12
10. And Abraham stretched forth his hand, and took the knife to slay his son.
11. And the angel of the Lord called unto him out of heaven, and said, Abraham, Abraham: and he said, Here am I.
12. And he said, Lay not thine hand upon the lad, neither do thou any thing unto him: for now I know that thou fearest God, seeing thou hast not withheld thy son, thine only son from me.
Whew - that was close. God almost extinguished the line of the Hebrews.

Good thing an angel was paying attention while God was playing hide and seek or taking a nap again, huh?

8. God is all powerful -

Jer 32:27
27. Behold, I am the Lord, the God of all flesh: is there any thing too hard for me?
It was a question. He wasn`t sure, could you tell him whether something is to hard for him?

Matt 19:26
24. And again I say unto you, It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.
25. When his disciples heard it, they were exceedingly amazed, saying, Who then can be saved?
26. But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.
God has a secret shrinking machine. "Honey, I shrunk the kids."

God is not all powerful -

Judg 1:19
19. And Jehovah was with Judah; and drove out the inhabitants of the hill-country; for he could not drive out the inhabitants of the valley, because they had chariots of iron.
Here you misunderstand the text. God is saying the tribe of Judah is to wimpy to drive out the Jebusites(Caananites).

He is with you until you wimp out, God doesn`t like wimps.

9. God is unchangeable - James 1:17/ Mal 3:6/ Ezek 24:14/ Num 23:19

God likes the way he is, he is having a good day when these passages were written.

God is changeable - Gen 6:6/ Jonah 3:10/ 1 Sam 2:30,31/ 2 Kings 20:1,4,5,6/Ex 33:1,3,17,14

God changed his mind because his teacher told him he needed a 'time out'. He cooled down and decided not to punish.

Okay - I am getting tired of this ignorance.

I could do the same thing with the darhmic religions. I have to much respect to do that, unlike the brazen pride that is blocking those that deem themselves wise and enlightened here.

Ego stretching is disgusting here. I used to think that honesty was prized here and truth was all that mattered. Now I see right through the arrogance of these so called sages - sickening.

I can tell you, with no hesitation, I have studied scripture longer than anyone here. And yet; everyone knows what the scripture means except those that have actually done the work.

The only one that I would remotely respect with regard to the Bible would be Diebert. The rest of you are so absolutely clueless as to what it means, it tells me you are not only not enlightened. You have no clue as to what it means.

If you get trounced in a debate, you either run and hide like a little girl or you try to infect someones PC with a virus. Little boys - that whine about women - pretending to be wise and cannot function in a real debate let alone society.

All the QRS have is bones to pick - they don`t like women - they don`t like Christians - they don`t like scientists - they don`t like Bush - they don`t like me - they don`t like posts like this - they don`t like society - they don`t like work - they don`t like, they don`t like, they don`t like.

Oh yeah - they like Buddha - cause and effect made Buddha cool and cause and effect made QRS cool. Cause and effect cheated me cause I posted this. They won`t like this post so I "don`t get it" and they are more fortunate than I cause, cause and effect liked them more than me.

Grow up for God`s sake, pull your mask off and take a peak at what you are really like.

Or do you have more pontification of inane logic tells you to disregard your very son(who has cancer) when I could help you cure him? Does your beloved self image of being a sage mean more to you than your son?

Will you answer "cancer cells need love to"?

Well?

Go here for the cure - let your pride go:

Beingof1,

Not everyone here is a naysayer of scripture. I agree that one who is wise will not be such.

Do you actually believe that one of the QRS triumvirate has unleashed virus attacks on your computer? I myself have noticed a vast increase in intrusion attempts on mine lately, but I take it as a coincidence that I am posting on this site.

Where do you get your info that there will be a world crash early next year? Isn't that something one can find predicted almost every year? I've heard it so many times that I've ceased to pay attention.

Nice to see you posting here again.

Beingof1, you sound a bit feverish man, are you okay?

Any specific reason the world will crash next spring? It would be about time. And how to prepare?

There's probably a stock market crash coming up pretty soon (actually more of a correction, but it's been such a bull run that it will feel like a crash), probably going to panic a lot of people right about that time, but the way you are phrasing it makes you sound like a madman rather than a prophet.

Beingof1

I looked up your linked site. I was happy that they seem to present this Ph balancing formula for a reasonable price. I get a lot of mail with various interesting products, but I notice they all seem to have about the same price of 30+ dollars per person per month. Must be some sort of marketing analysis that tells them this is what the public will bear. Problem is, there are quite a few, and if you add them up, it comes to a lot, even if you pick just a few good ones.

But then it seems that after all, you have to become a member, which costs 30 a month. Is that right?

I've got a book called The Battle for Health is Over Ph, and it tells you a lot of strategies for maintaining an alkaline Ph, without buying any 'formula'.
Truth is a pathless land.

Anger is a sign of ego flailing. It's a sign of an absence of truth. Peacefulness is "the fruit of the spirit". I may not know much but that I do know. I hope you are okay, Being of One. You have said kind words to me in the past, and I think you are an honest person...so I really hope you don't go all crazy.

Religous debates, much like moral debates seem pointless, since they aren't empirically proveable

for instance: "X is wrong, because Y" doesn't really state anything as X is just a preference and if Y is an unprovable statement.

At best you can infer causation-effects if everyone did X, if the effects are positive it would work but still wouldnt prove Y

example; "Wearing socks on Tuesday is wrong, because the bible says so" doesn't really say anything as a statement, the first part states a preference as whether or not wearing socks on a tuesday is an empirically unproveable opinion. At best we can run down the pros and cons of sock wearing on a tuesday and attempt to rationalise (based on theoretical consequences) whether it would make sense or not (ie whether or not the conclusions of it were morally acceptable or not)

In the same way: "God exists" cant really be rationally debated, since it (at least to me) seems empirically unprovable. All we can do is weigh up the pros and cons of the existance and see if the results are acceptable.

He could die at any moment.

Oh well, that's the wheel of life and death for you. What can you do?

Are you sure about that?

What about Mormon scripture? Or the scared tenets of the Ku Klux Klan? Or the Koran, which advocates the killing of unbelievers?

A lot of the Bible focuses on the story of an angry, vengeful God smiting the enemies of Israel and casting them into hell. Is this something that you would expect a wise person to approve of?

What about when Jesus spoke of the need to give up all attachments, to hate your mother and father, wife and children, to turn family members against each other, to bring fire and destruction upon the earth, etc, if you want to be his disciple - do you say yea to this?

David,

Ha. You caught me being unspecific. I meant no wise person would reject the wise parts of scripture.

I was refering to Beingof1's words, and I know he is selective about gleaning wise Bible passages. As I believe you are, as well.

That was my point.

He doesn't really have cancer. But nonetheless, he could die at any moment.
