Re: Zizek on Lacan's Triad & Interpretation of Freud
You guys are really over thinking it, there is no such thing as a self, self does not exist. The word exists. Also it does not and could not refer to anything lasting and hence has no meaning even in that sense.
What was that old line... there is a path but no traveler on it to be seen?

You haven't thought about it at all as usual. Ignorance is bliss. In the beginning was the "word".SeekerOfWisdom wrote:You guys are really over thinking it, there is no such thing as a self, self does not exist. The word exists.

If you think that is the case, that would mean you think my statement was wrong, and that there is a self, so who hasn't been thinking? Seeing as there is no self.
Or if there is, and your not just being an uptight idiot as usual, please give some semblance of reasoning as to what 'self' is and the meaning.

change that to self-nature does not exist. You guys are really over thinking it, there is no such thing as a self, self does not exist
a tree exists dependent on an infinite array of causes therefore it can't be assigned its own essence nor can it be denied existence otherwise nihilism is postulated.

a belief that self exists inherently is the cause of suffering.
insisting the self doesn't exist makes you look like a fucking idiot.
explaining 'how it exists' clears it up.
dependent arising.

Re: Zizek on Lacan's Triad & Interpretation of Freud
In science, in living, thinking, breathing, existing, man is one and the same as his practical and cognitive activity; either as an individual human or as the species. In his practical life, he deals with objects as a subject. In his cognitive life, he is dealing with himself as experiential subject.
When these activities -- practical and cognitive life/existence (arising, falling away) activities -- are taken out of this actual life context, he gets a sense of separateness from existence, when really that is not the case at all. He is as much a part of existence as a cause as he a part of it as an effect (delusions, and all).

Re: Zizek on Lacan's Triad & Interpretation of Freud
Self does not exist, you are completely wrong in every possible sense. It is like you have admitted you are using the wrong word, yet continue to use it anyway.
It does not even exist dependently and it refers to nothing real or lasting. You can say tree exists, you can say body exists, you can say consciousness exists, you could list every single thing known to be even slightly related, yet none of these things in any way make up a self nor do any combination of these things.
The very word self implies 'mine' or 'me', in fact, it means those things, at the very least self is individual, it is a singular, a separate, false concepts.
You must be mistakenly referring to hundreds of factors and naming your perceived combination of those hundreds of not-me things as 'self' or 'me'. Sure you don't mean 'Dennis' rather than 'mine'?
Dennis does the same as Diebert, except this time I 'look like' a fucking idiot. Which btw would imply that you were not an idiot, that you were correct, the other person being a fucking idiot only on the basis that you are correct and they are wrong. If it turns out to be the other way, then by your own logic you would become the fucking idiot. The decision would require you to actually say what 'self' is rather than just saying it exists dependently and nothing more.
Don't really know you Leyla, besides what seeing your display picture implies. Also extra votes prove nothing in terms of correctness, and incorrectness (according to you ) proves 'fucking idiot'.
So to some that all up, you three (by word of your own insults) are fucking idiots unless you are able to evidence or point to even one thing that could be correctly called 'me', 'mine' or 'self'.

you think emptiness means non-existence.
it means 'swollen with possibility'.

I do think the things exist, I do not believe they can correctly be called 'me'. You were just saying neti neti neti before weren't you? How can those follow each other? I also hope that discussion can substitute any further contentment or insults, in my opinion, I don't think the subject of self actually decides fucking idiotness, that was your decision.

I fail to see how a non-self can ever be insulted. What/who is insulted?

Form exists, form is not self. Perceiving the interaction as happening between two separate beings is what creates the view that they each have individual will. Consciousness/mental formations arise, where does 'me' fit in exactly?

That was kind of non-responsive. Why speak about insults when they can only happen to a self that doesn't exist?

Your question is based on the statement "they can only happen to a self", without pointing out what the self is?

What I'm saying is why do you keep talking about people being insulting when you have no self. What is being insulted?

Re: Zizek on Lacan's Triad & Interpretation of Freud
I, me, mine, are experienced in the belief that self inherently exists which is the delusion.I do think the things exist, I do not believe they can correctly be called 'me'.
If the self existed inherently it would not be changeable.
the argument opposes an inherently existing self which doesn't deny the existence of self.
Re: Zizek on Lacan's Triad & Interpretation of Freud
So blaming or praising someone stinks of causing that self-inherently non-existent entity to oooze out of it's imaginary pores in a state of suffering and frustration....also to ignore does that [all you self-inherently non-existent ignore-whores out there, praising each other and ignoring others...]
See how these words disturbed your mind ?
The wise say things like this:
The moon does not fight. It attacks no one. It does not worry. It does not try to crush others.
The moon keeps to its course but by its very nature, it gently influences.
What other body could pull an entire ocean from shore to shore?
The moon is faithful to its nature and its power is never diminished."

The wise don't ignore situations or imagine them to be otherwise.Kunga wrote:So blaming or praising someone stinks of causing that self-inherently non-existent entity to oooze out of it's imaginary pores in a state of suffering and frustration....also to ignore does that [all you self-inherently non-existent ignore-whores out there, praising each other and ignoring others...]

The gift of pain need not obligate you to accept the gift, Kunga, and if not accepted there is no need to return it. But if accepted and not returned one has the opportunity to discover who feels the pain, who feels insulted, what is actually disturbed, and perhaps "open up a little bit more to the wisdom of the Infinite."Welcome to Genius Forum, the forum for Dangerous Thinkers.
Genius is a discussion forum that is passionately dedicated to the nature of Genius, Wisdom and Ultimate Reality and to the total annihilation of false values. It is an unconventional discussion forum suitable only for the brave hearted. It is for those who like their thoughts bloodied and dangerous. That is to say, it is a forum intended solely for men - of either sex. It is sometimes said that genius is "the infinite capacity for giving pain." This is very apt. If one is not deliberately causing pain to the ego, both in oneself and in others, then what is the good of one's life? One might as well not exist at all. It is by challenging and overturning our cosy assumptions, habitual thought-processes, psychological refuges and mental blocks that our minds can be opened up that little bit more to the wisdom of the Infinite.
We hope you find this forum stimulating and challenging.

the wisdom of the infinite dosn't seek to belittle others, shame others, or blame others. I do not respect you, so your words are like turds.

Re: Zizek on Lacan's Triad & Interpretation of Freud
Wisdom just shows, how it's mostly ourselves we belittle, shame and blame or disrespect. Then denied, then seen out there as "words of turds". This is the tragedy of self: the difficulty of admitting how evil "we" are ourselves and therefore seeing it all too easy "out there". Only once we know it's just as well "us", one can move on to innocence and the illusionary nature of good and evil, of self and how one thing leads to another and such.Kunga wrote:the wisdom of the infinite dosn't seek to belittle others, shame others, or blame others.
