You are extremely verbose in that thread, but not in a bad way, Joe, I call anybody that because I know a lot of people who communicate like you do, very worldly in your method of communication. I don't want to kiss butt ;) but you are one intelligent guy! Are you like 100 years old or something, because I wouldn't have been able to grasp half of it? I don't want to be a sucker, but I am really *feeling* your posts lately, but not in a gay way! Hope all is well with the Bhudda, you seem like a western kind of thinker, or maybe you can take it on the chin. The Fawns(sp?) sends his regards LOL.

Nah, the list was too long. I got impatient at one point and tried to do it myself in the comfort of my own home, but it went... poorly. The donor managed to escape. But now I know better. Standard, police-issue handcuffs are simply too large for ten-year-old girls...acid wrote:Did you have a liver transplant?

Easy. First, gag her. Alternatively, you can use anesthesia. Then, using a sharp instrument... Oh wait, perhaps I misunderstood the question...?acid wrote:How can you transplant from a femail to a male?

As usual the most serious of subjects are attacked by the dregs of this board like leeches on the ankles of a wader in a fine Canadian lake.

I don't mind sucking off the body of such a wader, myself. Dan's posts were very refreshing.

Wow. I can't get past this paragraph. Seldom do I see someone express so much and so little, so completely, at the same time.Dan Rowden wrote:The false and true self.
A self exists. You can't doubt this because if something appears, it exists. But the trick is to know in what way the self exists, and that entails understanding the nature of existence, per se. The appearance we designate "me" doesn't have some miraculous properties and nature that distinguishes it from all other things that we say exist. What we experience as a self, as an apparent seat of consciousness and experience is just like all other things - an appearance whipped by causality (Nature) that lacks inherency. Now, this self is perfectly real, as real as anything else; it's just not an appearance that can generate the sort of psychological output we see in/as emotion. There's isn't the false dualism of self/other and the attachments that accrue as a consequence. There's nothing that loses and gains; nothing that needs security and validation and therefore experiences "rejection"; nothing that desires things be other than how they are or that can be attached to outcomes (being attached doesn't mean you don't work towards them, since purpose and values are hardwired into discriminative consciousness - in much the same sense that a tree isn't attached to the fact that it spreads its roots, it's just part of what trees do).
Truly, it is an aptly woven masterpiece, as delicately tuned as the craft that weaves it.

Where is the Philosophy in that? Just saying if I'm supposed to be subtly trolling GF, then you are espousing views of hatred. Are you like the same person as Dan Rowden?brokenhead wrote:Easy. Dan Rowden has a massive ego. I only wish I knew how many screen names he has registered on his own message board. Sorry if I"m out of place, but that guy has taken many a backhanded shot at the people here. Glad I haven't been around too long, wouldn't mind that IP ban coming up shortly :(

On GF, Dan Rowden is only Dan Rowden. I've sniffed these guys out enough to be rather sure of that.

Oh, grow up. I've taken shots at you for what amounts to continuing disregard for what this board is about. If you have no interest in what we're about, one can only assume you are here for what amounts to highly dubious reasons. Let me point out that the only reason the Worldy Matters forum exists is to try and keep the actual forum clear of irrelevant trivia and dross. It frankly doesn't exist for the benefit of people who want to talk about tennis and whether people are gay or not.snow bunny wrote:Dan Rowden has a massive ego. I'm sorry, you're just a whinging, trolling smartarse. For the record, I deactivated "pen15"'s account for just such trolling. I have since reactivated it as I figure I've made my point. But really, do you want to try for 2 usernames at once, Bill?Glad I haven't been around too long, wouldn't mind that IP ban coming up shortly :(

Dan,
An innocent joke is an attack? I'd expect such a reaction from Carl, but not from you.Poetic, yet true.

I think the point is that there are some people whose only intention is to reduce everything they see to the level of a joke. It's actually interesting in one sense, but tedious in another.Shahrazad wrote:Dan,

Re: Emotion, Attachment & Wisdom
I'd agree if that was their only intention. But brokenhead does not strike me that way at all. Bunny is another story.I think the point is that there are some people whose only intention is to reduce everything they see to the level of a joke. Re: Emotion, Attachment & Wisdom
Following on from your thinking above,Xerox. We have evolved with emotions, which have assisted our evolution. Consciousness also evolved and assisted our evolution. But whereas consciousness can be put to use to understand the nature of the emotions and consciousness, and assist our survival through rationality (look both ways before you cross the road type thing) - the emotions can't shed light on anything, not even their own nature.
It just shows how limiting the emotions are to finding true enjoyment in one's life.

Re: Emotion, Attachment & Wisdom
No, not if you know that there is no inherently existing self.
The "enjoyment" that is experienced is just a natural outcome of living truthfully.
