The most enlightened entity...

Post by Imadrongo »

I suggest that it is the rock.

The rock has zero interests. The rock has zero desires. The rock actively harms nobody. The rock is one with Nature. The enlightened person reaches the stage where he no longer has use for reason or thinking; he just sits in emptiness all day (according to David). The rock never reasons or thinks. The rock is eternally in emptiness. The rock has no emotions. The rock is not feminine. The rock does not follow the herd. The rock allows the herd to walk on him without changing form. The rock never changes his views. The rock has no values -- even the sage eventually values nothing, not even truth (according to David/Kevin), and the rock has reached this state of perfection. The rock never suffers. The rock has a perfect existence indeed! The rock never suffers, enters the hells, and likewise never enters the heavens! The rock is immortal. The rock is egoless. The rock is selfless. The rock has reached the stage of wisdom where he values not even the "survival of wisdom".

Thoughts?

Also -- Are we not already guaranteed to become rocks after we die? Why do we seek an early death?

I am seriously wondering if Whorly Whelk and Neil are actually the same person. The former seemed to have some sense.
The rock has zero interests.
Interest is an artifact of discriminative consciousness. Sages possess this, rocks may but seemingly don't. It's dreadfully hard to judge. Maybe Gary Dahl can tell us. Or, possibly Spock.
The rock has zero desires.
It would appear not; however they may simply have no capacity to act on those they have. Don't envy the rock. He may hear you.
The rock actively harms nobody.
How do you know? Maybe rocks have telepathic powers you don't know about.
The rock is one with Nature.
Redundant.
The enlightened person reaches the stage where he no longer has use for reason or thinking; he just sits in emptiness all day (according to David).
David has never said any such thing. That's twice now you've posted this twaddle; I suggest you don't do it a third time, because that would make you certifiably inane.

The rest of your post follows from this same fallacious notion and is therefore not worthy of replication.

What you are talking about is unconciousness. Wisdom requires consciousness.

One who has no desires is either the greatest of fools or the wisest of the wise.

The tragedy of the majority of men is by no means that they are weak but that they are too strong - genuinely, to be aware of God. A tree, an animal is even stronger - and therefore it is not at all aware of God; a stone is the strongest of all and therefore is completely unaware of God.

Kierkegaard was aware of the spiritual irony that one must become aware of God to become unaware. He knew that the best understanding and final fulfillment of understanding of God is that of not thinking about God at all.

Know it, be it, can't he'p it. U.S ghetto God motto.

It's some people's karma to be confused, but let's not make a virtue of it, ok?

Is the post logical, or an attack on a belief?

Why do we feel we have to attack a belief different to our own?

We feel that we are trying to help others.

I'm an athiest. People will attack me with God to save me from Hell.

This post is like that.

I have come across a hundred or more "Neils" over the years. I like them, frankly. They are troubled and I like that in a person. You don't flee from that which doesn't trouble you, and that which troubles you resonates with consciousness, so, as much as Neil's current posts are predominantly fatuous, they have soul.

One who has no desires is either the greatest of fools or the wisest of the wise.
What does wisdom matter though? Isn't that just a step towards enlightenment? Isn't it, as with truth, only a stepping stone that the sage eventually has no use for?

When the Buddha sat in emptiness for however many hours straight I bet he completely forgot "his wisdom". Isn't the perfectly enlightened being one who can sit in emptiness forever, one who has no worldly goals, desires, or struggles whatsoever?

The enlightened being doesn't "sit" in emptiness; he sits in his arse print . Emptiness isn't a place you find yourself in: it is the the true nature of things. The enlightened person discovers his true nature and dwells in that. That's all.

An enlightened person sits wherever they want to, for they are enlightened enough to know the best place for themselves to sit.

Seems like you are into Buddhism. I have just been reading about it. Surely it's better to treat Buddhism as a principle, rather than a rule.

Buddhism is a method of thinking, a perspective. As an historical entity it is a mish-mash of nonsense and invaluable brilliance. You have to work out what is what.

Wisdom is simply consciousness of reality. The perfectly enlightened person is perfectly wise, as a matter of definition.
When the Buddha sat in emptiness for however many hours straight I bet he completely forgot "his wisdom".
That's precisely when he discovered true wisdom. But he did let go, supposedly, of any "wisdom" that he might have been grasping at, or clinging to as though he was the source of it and the owner of it.
Isn't the perfectly enlightened being one who can sit in emptiness forever, one who has no worldly goals, desires, or struggles whatsoever?
A perfectly enlightened person still has goals, but he is not attached to whether he achieves them or not. And whether he does achieve things or not, he doesn't see these doings as as his own - even though he takes responsibility for them.
