Strange Requests in Relationships

On another board, a single mother asked if she should instruct her teenage son to shave his arm pits because she didn't know if guys shave there or not. One poster responded that this is something that when he gets a girlfriend, they should decide together. I never had a discussion with any of my boyfriends about shaving their pits, and I wondered how common that request is.

What strange requests have you heard in relationships?

That's pretty much what I said, but I added "unless they are on the swim team - then they shave everything."

As you notice, the title of the thread is about "strange requests."

What's the weirdest thing any of your girlfriends asked you to do for her?

Swimmers, at least the guys, only shave everything when big competitions come around. The gain in speed from shaving itself is really minimal and pretty much irrelevant for all but Olympic-level swimmers. The bigger effect is psychological and comes from the rather striking sensation of water running over areas of the body that are normally covered with hair. And I can attest that it does feel pretty neat.

The primary problem with suicide is that you can't change your mind. But when you make a suicide pact with a lover, always let them go first, just in case.

I'd say that the biggest problem (for the individual considering suicide) is that if the attempt doesn't work, the person often ends up with a bigger problem than the one they wanted to kill themselves over.

Whilst certain countries are atomising satelites in outer space, arms dealers are creating and bathing in the sadistic and financial glory of certain wars and people are dying of...stuff...there are people who worry about shaving armpits ( of men of all things !!! ) Plus I thougt girls liked them hairy? What is this woman trying to make him gay or something? next thing he'll be shaving his legs and his crotch. Just watch it- next thing mothers will debate about wether or not they should force their sons to shave crotches. Sheesh, someone should just give these housewives a good book or something.

Parents tend to want to properly acculturize their children to assure that their children have a smoother transition into the social world. When adults who were never properly or fully acculturized themselves attempt this, some odd ideas come into play.

I'd be surprised if there was a good book out there that told her that males do not shave their pits.

I've known a few guys that have shaved their legs. A few others who shave their chests and bellys. Quite a lot who shave their crotches. They think it's better for when they get a blowjob, because the girl will lick their balls then.

Quite a lot who shave their crotches. They think it's better for when they get a blowjob, because the girl will lick their balls then.

It is mainly to make it look bigger, more pronounced.

Also just like women shaving their pubes, there is probably an element of peadophiliac tendencies.

interesting. then again, i've never been one to focus on looks so much, personality excites me more. anyway, i think these "oddball" matters should generally be left to individuals and individual couples to decide upon. Parents shouldn't try to psychologically force their kids to do stuff just so society can run like a smooth yet boring and non-democratic machine full of hairless drones and dronesses who will ultimately descriminate against and be scared of actual people with actual hair and mild bodily freedom. I wore socks with sandals the other day and people freaked out about it, whilst the people in wheelchairs and the dwarfs on campus ( there's this one dwarf who has a foot growing out of her back ) are not mocked or victimised. Hypocrites. Not everyone was born beautiful and not everyone was born rich enough to wear specific clothing combinations when it is freezing weather. Society creates its own monster. This type of stereotyping is the origin of racism etc. I have decided to disobey social rules of campus every friday to support the cause. Today i am happily wearing a space outfit/dress. Ok, it doesn't look THAT bad and challenging, but I'm slowly wheeling to greater efforts to support the cause. There are others reasons for me challenging society these days, ones which I will not elaborate upon. Social etiquette works both ways.

Well, I think it's better the way it is than if we mocked people for having to be in a wheelchair or whatever... I mean, wearing socks is a choice... so not really comparable in my book.

That said, I really wish the fashion nazis would just form a commune and leave the rest of us alone. The entire thing strikes me as ridiculous.

Incidentally, do you go to SAPC? My sister was telling me about someone with a foot growing out of her back at school a while back... one wouldn't think that was overly common (but what do I know?)

Katy, ( snookums : ), choices are not always really choices. Some people are practically retarded in the fashion department. They just don't understand how to...be...artful...Some people are really very...poor... but work hard here at the university and don't need extra sh!t from people. Some persons suffer from severe depression ( myself included )and we find it hard just to crawl out of bed every day, hard to remember stuff, wake up, walk, and the occasional insane person ( i am balancing on the border ) has no real control over their brains any more. Same goes for the foot-backs etc, they didn't choose their circumstances. So people are shallow and mean if they judge us based just on our appearances and have no idea of the stuff that goes on in our brains, and if they force us to go out of our way to please them for the 5.3 seconds that they see us when we walk past one another.

And ps no, the foot-backs are not such usual phenomena, this one foot-back was the first that I have seen. There is also a guy here who has no arms, just little stump-legs, and he can usually be seen eating pies with his toes and stuff. Amazingly, these people blend in well, or at least as well as can be expected, and at least from a distant perspective. Some of them even go to the dancing classes here. we had a blind tutor in english classes last year ( living proof of the persistence of personality and brains: he is ugly, wears ugly clothes and has been blind since birth and yet, he has had numerous girlfriends and his life-partner is quite normal and attractive from what I've seen ).

in fact, things are getting too horrible for me to continue this existence. The past is just always there. I think it is time to go. I was ill for a long time, my life was ruined for most of my teenage years, and now I am a mess and I don't understand my own age group. Disappointments have slashed me to the point of no return. The smartest people and the dumbest people I have ever known have become one.
