Re: The Nature of Religion
Just out of curiosity, what would be the point of digging up such a quote, if it can be found?
Re: The Nature of Religion
Um, the original point was to face Rebecca with the proposal to see if she had the integrity and was consistent enough to call David a fascist and say that he "bothered her", just as she did with me. But to be honest with you, the thread is not needed any more. I already know Rebecca cannot be consistent. She empathizes with the resentments of certain men against women, but does not do the converse.

Re: The Nature of Religion
2 things: Firstly, David has already stated his conjecture was said in jest (though that is not exactly apparent from the context). Secondly, what he said had no gender bias attached to it at all, so I'm failing to see the relevance to the whole "gender" issue.
Anyway, here's the evidence of Dave's evil fascist ways. The post in question is about 80% the way down the page, but the context is needed.

Dan,
Oh, so only people who have a gender bias can be fascists?Secondly, what he said had no gender bias attached to it at all, so I'm failing to see the relevance to the whole "gender" issue.

No, that's just one form of it. And I'm not sure the notion of the elimination of a gender really constitutes "bias" as such. I think a different term would need to be used for that. What that term would be would depend on your outlook.
Re: The Nature of Religion
Dan, with searching for David's proposal, I wasn't really pursuing the gender issue, but the fascism issue.
I think the best term to describe my gender views is misandry.

Re: The Nature of Religion
If so, then it would constitute bias, certainly. Wanting to eliminate a gender on that basis would tend to smack of fascism, really. But I'm not sure your disposition qualifies as misandry. I think you simply resent certain types of men for various reasons, some of them reasonable enough. Most men are quite deserving of resentment, though one has to be careful that one's resentment isn't simply grounded in a childish sort of "not getting my way" kind of thing.
That goes for either gender, of course.

Dan,
It goes beyond just "certain types". The only men I don't resent are those who are not assholes, and you already know that I believe they are very few and far between.I think you simply resent certain types of men for various reasons, some of them reasonable enough.

I think there are very few people that are not arseholes. It's sort of human nature to be arseholy.
