Liz: The sad part is they have to butt fuck a bunch of little kids (their selection process) who then go on to become pedophiles themselves. For some bizarre reasoning, the kid's parents go along with this "enlightened" charade. If they were as large an organization as the pedophile Catholic Church of Rome, they'd be settling out-of-court child-sex lawsuits left and right. Bells and whistles, the whole lot of them.Elizabeth Isabelle wrote:Not sure what you mean here. The story goes that when one Dalai Lama dies, he is reincarnated into another body. Loving & Rejecting God

Re: Loving & Rejecting God
"Since God created man in his image, this is saying man has the image of God within him. So love thyself, because you are part of God. Socrates said it best--Know Thyself."
This is a spurious issue amongst Christians. My interpretation has "The Image of God" as Man's intellectual ability to ascertain the causal dynamics of reality.
Genesis 1:26
Then God said, "Let us make man in our image, in our likeness, and let them rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the livestock, over all the earth, and over all the creatures that move along the ground."
But the more orthodox interpretation is as such:
man is said to be made to God's image, in so far as the image implies an intelligent being endowed with free-will and self-movement: now that we have treated of the exemplar, i.e., God, and of those things which came forth from the power of God in accordance with His will; it remains for us to treat of His image, i.e., man, inasmuch as he too is the principle of his actions, as having free-will and control of his actions. (http://www.newadvent.org/summa/2.htm)
Such a being endowed with "Free-Will" however is a contradiction of the scripture. As man was not given free-will. If man had free-will he would be a God beside God and this cannot be, it is nomologically impossible and there is no scriptural support of this doctrine.

Interesting how 'God" is plural.Animus wrote:Genesis 1:26

Yes, the original Hebrew word was Elohim which means "Gods", El is "God". Interestingly El is referred to in english translation as "LORD God". Who knows what this means, I surmise that the other "Gods" are forces of nature.divine focus wrote:Interesting how 'God" is plural.Animus wrote:Genesis 1:26

Actually, in the original Hebrew there were no cases upper or lower.divine focus wrote:Hmm...God as corporation? ALL-CAPS means commercial entity in English.

I think the translators of this English version are trying to say something. God as supreme corporation. As in, serve God (plural). Negative path.Animus wrote:Actually, in the original Hebrew there were no cases upper or lower.divine focus wrote:Hmm...God as corporation? ALL-CAPS means commercial entity in English.

If you see LORD in all caps, this is what's referred to as the tetragrammaton. B/c I don't want to explain all of that, here's a link to the wiki article about it - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tetragrammaton
So El is just translated as God and Elohim is also usually translated simply as God unless it is referring to the gods of another people group. If you see LORD in all caps, it's actually YHWH, or Yahweh, the unspoken name of God, so therefore LORD God is YHWH El. It has nothing to do with anything other than reverence for the name of God.
