Neil,
I can see Kevin quite clearly, and also the solution to his problem which he can't see.
Hahahahahaha ....... Oh Neil, one day you will be embarrassed by the sorts of things you are saying at the moment.

You will look back and think, "Oh God, was I really such an insufferable born-again Nietzscherian? Was I anything more than a born-again Christian thumping his bible?"

Did anyone define "language" in this thread or do I have to read the whole damn thing?

I thought not, which is the problem with the whole discussion. The participants need to define the term to make this discussion meaningful.

I suspect in doing so, the problem will resolve itself, but let's see.....

How about: "rational symbols for communication."

Do you not know what language is? As far as I am aware it means only one thing -- a set of define words or symbols used between people for communication. Terms only need to be defined if they are used in a non-standard way or have different meanings.

This actually brings us to an interesting point though. I could in turn ask you to define "define" first. Can we fully define anything? All our definitions are based on more terms that need defining. If we tried to define some arbitrary term we would have to define every term, define all the terms in those definitions, etc.

I actually don't think it would be possible to fully define an abstract term like "absolute".

Logic used, then found, then used again. It does not matter. Whether you get it or not get it is so ingrained to behavior that it is not questioned. Whatever one thinks about it is bound by it.

We are able to have conversations with ourselves, inside our own mind, and we do that with a language (symbols).
