all my PM's that i send are going to the "Outbox" instead as showing as being "Sent "
why is that ?

Messages should only go to the outbox if you don't send them immediately. Otherwise they will appear in the "sent items" folder.

They go in the outbox until the recipient picks them up, then they show up in the sent items.

There you go. Everyday you learn something :)
