Weird how animal-like humans are

Video

Was watching stupid videos and I found this video of a fight. I guess this post has little point but to mention how the video struck me, as a bunch of mammals stripped for a few minutes of the thin gloss that we call "civilization," shouting and jeering, fascinated by the spectacle of two guys pounding on one another and egging them on.

I notice that the video was of almost all guys. This post might have fit in nicely with Katy's "Is Violence Masculine?" thread.

almost is the key word.

Feminine values apparently holds groups like that together, and also causes clashes between groups and individuals.

Femininity is animality.

Did you actually look at the video? By almost, I meant that out of about 30 guys, there was one female. Often there is a female that is essentially "one of the guys" - and that is more like what she seemed to be, rather than any force of holding the guys together.

Do men like gruesome horror movies more than women?

In my experience, I find women are just as inclined to seek thrills in horror movies.

---------------------------------------------------------

Men are excited by or moved to commit violence to the degree that they feel inferior and unworthy in some way, sexually and/or mentally.

What does 'precoccupation with the demands, pressures and pleasures of woman' have with this sense of inferiority in males?

this sense of inferiority drives men to derive excitement in violence, and the sense of inferiority is born out of preocupation with woman.

the observers we see in the video watch in excited anticipation someone get beat down lower than the observers of the fight feel.

What is making them feel so low? Woman of course.

Such euphoric relief to have ones anxiety and introspection eclipsed by the sight of someone getting beat.

How gratifying is it to know WHO the toughest guy is. Watch the fight closely, and don't forget the tough guy.

How much more control I now feel knowing who the tough guy is.

How much better I now feel (at least for now) knowing that someone is weaker and more pathetic than me. Look at him get destroyed. Phew! Wow! And I thought I had it rough! I thought I was bad!

The weight of one's self hatred becomes so much lighter, almost un-noticable when someone elses weakness is on display.

And so why don't we see women engage in this behavior as much?

She isnt given as much responsibility - -she doesnt carry as much consciousness, introspection is thus less painful - she doesnt have the tremendous energy of the male, nor the physical strength.

And the big factor is: she needs to look soft and heavenly.

She exists to evaluate men based on her childish values - - giving man the inferiority complex that drives him to do so many crazy things.

Well, it would, sorta, but you'd have to remember that it was situational. The fight broke out amongst a group that happened to be guys. Want me to find you a girl equivalent of that video?

Plus, you have to take into account what the protagonist did. He pissed in a guy's beer for crying out loud! If that's not cause for justifiable homicide I don't know what is....

I would actually. I don't think woman break out in fights as much. And I certainly don't believe you'll find herds of mostly women gathering around shouting and cheering around two women fighting.

But doing stuff like pissing in the other fellows beer, vandalism, blowing up toads, shooting squirrels, and gathering around a cock fight - - -you can't tell me women are just as inclined to do these things.

throughout grade school, junior high, and going to many rowdy parties - -- I've observed first hand that guys are by far more inclined to become excited and rawled up by watching and by doing violent destructive acts. Whether it is pissing in the fellows beer, stuffing a dead animal in a mail box, or humilating some poor fellow who passed out from over drinking.

Men are indeed the ugliest (yet also capable of being the most beautiful).

In part this is because of their nature, and also it is because of environmental pressure.

Oh, the poor fucks.

But when it comes to women in devious and controlling projects in a world that traps them in immanence (nothing more than flesh), no such "cause" is allotted. What is making them feel AND act so low? Nothing? Just themselves? Their inherent stupidity?

I just love this one-way causation crap. [/sarcasm] - only one gender with the power to affect the other, but not the other way around.

Girl fights happen, and when they do it's uglier than guy fights because guys just punch where girls pull hair, claw, bite - anything. I just don't think they happen as often.

They don't happen nearly as often, in my experience, and I believe they are deadly or seriously incapacitating less often, too.

Pye,
Cory: What is making them feel so low? Woman of course.

Pye: Oh, the poor fucks.
Ah, your right. The main cause is the woman within man that has him feeling so low.
pye wrote: But when it comes to women in devious and controlling projects in a world that traps them in immanence (nothing more than flesh), no such "cause" is allotted.
A womens instincts generally prefer to control her man by submitting to his fantasy of her at times, yet she does this to control him, to harness his energy. She corrupts him, yet more truthfully, he corrupts himself.

Man can try to talk some sense into woman, but generally she will look at him like he is from another planet. She prefers to be abused and be an abuser, grossly or subtely.

Likewise, if you try to talk sense into your typical man he will become very pained, and perhaps becomes angry and frightened. It is too much for him to see woman for who she really is. Too overwhelming. Too shattering to his hopes and dreams. Man too, being mostly femine, prefers to abuse and be abused.

Feminine values (which exist in men)

Femininity can influence masculinity. The result is a decrease in consciousness, masculinity, good.

Masculinity can influence femininity. The result is an increase in consciousness, masculinity, good.

Posters on this site are kind of odd in their strong tendency to attribute desires to other people, desires which those people would never confess to having themselves. It seems we have a bunch of expert psychoanalysts on our hands here.

Psychoanalysis is a narrow branch of philosophy. I've read Freud and can imitate his methods with relative ease.

Which posters? Got any names?

Why not deal with the people you have a problem with directly?

What were some of the comments that you felt were unreasonable?

Is it really the case that men beat on other men solely because women make them feel "low" and they must then make other men feel "lower?" How did you come to the conclusion that this analysis is correct?

When I say ‘lower’ I mean: insecure, frightened, anxious, inferior.

First of all - - it is man being aroused and pleased by the appearance of prettier women that contribute to his feelings of inferiority, insecurity, etc.

You ever get butterfly’s and nervous around the really pretty girl? That’s not feeling love - -that’s feeling inferiority.

(Why don’t you feel that way around the overweight, unattractive girl?)

Being aroused and comforted by ‘something’ is the seed of the fully grown desire to possess and control that stimulating something - - or better, it’s the seed of the fully grown desire to have the power that results in the stimulating something. (For instance: ‘power’ often can result in ‘getting woman’)

The problem starts when that stimulating something (woman) is capable of judging and rejecting the man who desires her.

Beer thus ends up being a great pacifier, because beer can never reject you. But most men place more importance on woman than beer. Beer is just a helpful means to the end. Or it’s a helpful way of getting through a sad life (sad because of the reality of woman). Since woman is more intoxicating and magical than many of the common drugs and since she also has the power to reject the man and say no to him - - that makes her a deadly force! Instinctively, woman uses this power (that she hardly knows she has) in order to make man do what she wants. What does she want man to do? Be powerful in order to ensure her survival. Since most men feel powerless - -- violence is a tremendous thrill. Witnessing something other than yourself appear helpless and weak is a great relief for some people. How else would you explain sadism?

That’s why serial killers are almost always marked by a strong sexual element. Because most men don’t get the girl that they want, and since they don’t achieve the power that might result in more positive attention - they end up feeling inferior (this hurts) and so it gives them relief to see another human being worse off then they are. Violence is a way of gaining control and feeling power. Being under the spell of a woman – can lead to feelings of great helplessness and despair, which of course leads to violence. Fear of death is another big factor that needs to be considered if we are to understand my argument.

Men are more conscious of death generally (or feel closer to it) and so they take it more seriously. It’s more real to them simply because it has been historically more up to man to provide for woman, to do the hard work neccessary to survive.

Man is given more responsibility, he carries more consciousness, introspection is more painful, he has more energy and has more physical strength. This makes him more suited to outwardly be the more violent entity - - to do the hunting and fighting. He is more suited to be the horse, while woman rides in the carriage.

Since woman has evolved to be more of a spectator, she thus has a keen eye for the sort of man who will kill for her. Violent man, historically, have been rewarded by woman for doing violence.

a) Fear of death, b) the pain of inferiority and c) the desire for woman (superiority).

These are the three big factors contributing to violence.

Cory,

The problem with your thesis is that it doesn't counter alternate theories off-hand. My own personal idea on this subject is that sometimes dudes just feel like hitting other dudes. Lets say a fella is being a total lamer. Occasionally you just want to smash his face so he shuts up. This has nothing to do with women. The fella wanted to smash the other fellas face as a direct result of the other fella acting like a lamer. Nor does this have anything to do with a fear of death. I'm not even thinking about death when I'm totally wanting to smash a dude's face. The Freudian unconscious doesn't exist, so attempting to hide hidden motives there is pretty silly. Everything is laid bare before us. Sometimes dudes just feel like hitting other dudes.

Hah! I don't think Woman is the cause of every male malady. A lot of them, maybe, but not all. Plus, I was joking, naturally. Anyway, Woman is largely a product of his own mind.

Btw, if anyone wants to see women going at it, all they need do is go to Youtube and do a search with criteria like - "girl fight" or "girls fighting" or "cat fight" or even "emo fight". You might be surprised at how many hits you get (of course, catfight will get you a number of fights between actual cats, which, whilst philosophically less interesting, will probably be more entertaining).

I have it on 'authority' (a cop) that in America it is common knowledge in their circle that girl-fights are far more vicious than fights amongst young men. Tearing out chunks of hair with bloody scalp and corpuscles attached, strips of skin gouged from the face- young women- especially those in gangs- inflict the most damage on each other. They seek to disfigure their opponents to make them less desirable. It is a noted, growing problem for law enforcement in America. Perhaps the young women feel they have more to prove to the group, being of the physically weaker sex, stigmatized. It seems an extension of a woman's skill in verbal combat, kicking a downed opponent.

Cory,
I've never read Freud.

Did you find some of the things said on this thread seemed like an imitation of Freud?
No, I did not find you imitating Freud. I simply used Freud as an example of a psychoanalyst that even a moderately talented philosopher such as myself can imitate (most people at the genius forum could, as well). My main point was that psychoanalysis is not really that hard for someone who spends a lot of their time thinking.

People often reject psychoanalysis as too complicated or unproveable, but most of it is really simple. Like, when you say "I love Pepsi" to someone who likes Coke, they often unconsciously interpret you to be saying that you hate Coke. They make an obvious substitution, and invert the emotions. Most of these things are really easy to figure out.

The only thing that makes Freud's method difficult to follow (and uninteresting to most people) is that he noticed many things that required a lot of subtlety: he showed that these inversions and substitutions frequently occur in dreams, but that they didn't always happen, or didn't always happen predictably. Also, he had to do a lot of projection (which is so "subjective" that many scientists reject it outright) to figure out what the person was actually saying.

In the end, psychoanalysis had very little long-term therapeutic uses. Basically, it's both easier, and longer-lasting, to change an adult consciously than unconsciously (unconscious manipulation is short-term, at best).

However, it's pretty easy for a bored philosopher to imitate these methods.
Which comments?
Nothing in particular. The biggest similarity to Freud is the emphasis on sex. Otherwise, your psychoanalysis follows its own patterns.
Perhaps you agree with my posts.
I haven't yet made up my mind.

Okay Dan, I clicked on a few of them, and in almost all of those I clicked, guys were egging them on.

Bryan, I think it is more a matter of guys having a concept of a "fair fight" with certain unwritten rules. With females, the fact that they are physically fighting at all means that the "rules" have already been broken, so there are no holds barred. A tomboy might feel she has something to prove and pick more fights, but a strictly girl fight doesn't have that element. I'm excluding girl gangs from this generalized statement - I only have enough knowledge about those to be aware that there are different dynamics at play.
