Hello,
I came across this video of Barbara Marx Hubbard talking about Suprasex.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AbOqyDLGa1M
My question is, does anyone here have experience with this this notion, of experiencing creative sexual energy being channeled into creative projects? I really don't, but I'd like to hear the experiences of others. The only thing remotely similar I've experienced is during physical healing where sexual energy will arise (but that's pretty close to "playing doctor" I guess). But she talks about "vocational arousal". Have any of you had experience of that?
Thanks,
Lilith
Suprasex, using sexual energy for creative projects?

Re: Suprasex, using sexual energy for creative projects?
She seems a little loopy to me, and what she is proposing is not grounded in science or truth. Although, Male artists have historically used beautiful females as muses for their creations only because her sexual presence in his life tortured his soul so severely that it gave him some creative material.
Moreover, I tend to view sex as an instinctive urge, and nothing more. And when the individual becomes emotionally attached to sexual experiences with particular people, then over time suffering, insecurity and confusion result.
The irony of it all is that most women will not have sex unless they feel loved, attached and remembered, and this is precisely why the act is so evil. It promotes delusion.
If women and men were able to engage in the act without any attachment, and forget the whole thing afterwards, then I wouldnt have a problem. Basically, if people could use sex merely to relieve the sexual impulse and not for emotional reasons, but this is almost impossible for most.

Seems like a lot of hippy, happy clappy nonsense to me...lilith wrote:

Using sexual energy for creative projects?
Yeah. When I was in Texas (around 2001-2002), I played in a band with a female vocalist. She was pretty hot. The lyrics she wrote were deeply personal, and touched on things like her having been abused as a child. We agreed, before the band really got started, that band members don't date each other. That was the rule, and we stuck by it. But it would be impossible to deny that the sexual tension was part of the driving force that made the band. My girlfriend at that time never believed that I never slept with the singer. She didn't believe that the music was - or could be - more important to me. Best band I ever played with; I miss it still.lilith wrote:My question is, does anyone here have experience with this this notion, of experiencing creative sexual energy being channeled into creative projects?
Going back a few years before that, I was going out with a female vocalist, and we decided that I would play acoustic guitar while she sang, and we played some open mike nights and such. She was a very good singer, but I feel that the fact that we were going out interfered with the band. It made it difficult to rationally discuss the music; there was no way to separate criticism of the music from personal criticism. When we tried to add other people to the band, it was awkward.
Anyway, to get back to Supra-Sex, The Toyota Supra is a great car, sure, but not really roomy enough for sex unless you are some sort of contortionist. A big old Buick or Caddy, that's the way to go.
