Brainwash is Effective
Like for instance music is played in stores to deter would-be thieves from stealing.
To constantly remind a kid daily to wash their hands is a brainwash of sorts, abusive in a sense, but effective or annoying is the question from the learner who doesn't need to be reminded.
Subliminal messaging can be spotted on television, if you have the eye for it, even if you don't have the eye for it, it still exists to influence listeners.
To spot subliminal messaging comes easy for some people. Subliminal messaging is used for many beneficial purposes.
Brainwash is Effective!
Re: Brainwash is Effective!
It matters little if the listener is conscious or unconscious of the techniques. I know that the "Slap Chop" commercial is designed to get me excited about the product - and it works!
However, being conscious of the source of some motive is sufficient to cause one to not follow through with the impulse. Otherwise, if unconsciously motivated, the individual may interpret the motive as originating solely from within themselves. They will claim "I want a Slap Chop for no other reason than I want a Slap Chop." (circular logic). Whereas, a wise-man might claim "I want a Slap Chop because the commercial was strategically designed to engender in me the desire for the Slap Chop."
Some will say that they never wanted a Slap Chop and could watch the commercial endlessly without ever wanting a Slap Chop. Perhaps these people decided from the outset that commercials were designed in such a way, and put up a barrier protecting them from such a ruse. In such a case, one likely wouldn't watch a Slap Chop commercial. However, it seems implausible than an individual with no such psychological barrier against all advertisement could watch 30 mins of that guy and his Slap Chop without allowing the man's excitement to invade their psyche.

Do you think brainwash can be detrimental to the point where the brainwashed has quit thinking for himself and has become reliant on being brainwashed?
