Urizen wrote:With the 'Fall' (that is, the division of human consciousnss into Subject and Object by our entrancement to cosmic manifestations), with the Fall we lost our divinity, and became humans; with modernity, we lost our humanity, and became animals; with postmodernity, we lose even our animality, and become as metal--the computer is the symbol of this last stage of human degeneration wherein the soul, trapping itself in a machine, is finally enslaved to matter. We are approaching the final phase of the Kali Yuga which is the birth of the religion of the Antichrist; one suspects the mythology surrounding the Computer will play an essential role in this, as well as New Age pseudo-spirituality and ideas related to Transhumanism.
Yes, of course, the mythological human needs a Past and a Future to place himself in and orient himself towards. A form of historical consciousness forms the moment we envision some "Before", some unsplit, uncracked egg. And then a "Final" where things get really problematic before a new era arises... they are classical themes! And there's no way to deny them since it can be felt, envisioned and found in the books of Others who felt and envisioned it: the purest elements of faith.

Nevertheless, these days I'm looking into a more immediate application of the myth: how consciousness is birthing by separation each and every breath (of prana). How development is always geared towards the world and the material, to master it, to embody, to posses this or that: necessity to some extent and a crazy fatefulness too. And then the learning to release: it can be a kingdom gained and lost in a lifetime or a wink of an eye. This is the modern, turned inside out "history" of consciousness. One would do wise to study it just as well.

Sometimes a Great Notion

Big themes shape this and keep it relevant. It’s a cohesive and consistent allegory of principles disguised as the events in a family’s life, beginning with their name.

Whatever else he did in life, Kesey was a big writing talent. Wrote his own life, as the saying goes.

Watch the Holy Mountain.

John Lennon and Yoko signing a blank cheque to Alejandro Jodorowsky to create his magnum opus.

Genius.

Enlightenment.

Pink Floyd were supposed to compose the music alas it didn't quite work out.

But this is the real deal.

Samsara

Pretty good. It does not conform to conditioned expectations of pacing and time.

The Way Back
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1023114/?re ... lmg_act_18

When everything but life is gone, the main character is compelled to live in order to someday give forgiveness to someone who cannot forgive herself.

Also highlights the monstrosity of communism.

Wow, you had some weird expectation then! Feel free to give a list of movies you think are worthy :)

One of the problems with listing European indie cinema is that nobody will have one fucking idea where to watch it here.

"Criterion Collection" releases many foreign films for American audiences. I'd recommend sticking with things earlier than 1995.

It stems from a cultured view. I'd find it as difficult to conceive of a wise, intelligent, conscious or "genius" person who likes books like 50 shades of grey, as I find it difficult to conceive of one who likes mainstream American movies. Of course everyone can't be an expert and can't have a refined taste in every area, but there's a certain level of exploration into our world that ought to be done by anyone who wishes to understand the bigger picture, and one should be aware of and humbled by one's areas of ignorance, in my opinion. :-)

In your opinion, what movies would Jesus watch?

None, or ones that were specifically requested of him.

Supposing that Jesus lived in the age of computers, would Jesus use a computer, and if so, PC or MAC?

Simply seeking clarification of your meaning. Since you’re saying that consumption of entertainment based on your qualifications for that entertainment correlates with enlightenment, then other consumables such as computers, automobiles, fashion, and so on are also likely indicators of enlightenment. Just curious which brands qualify. Of course, this is based on the leap that Jesus was enlightened and a person, and not merely an historical compendium of cobbled characteristics. And if he wasn’t enlightened, in your opinion, then insert your favorite enlightened one to respond to the chase.

Enlightenment is easy; you scarcely need a brain to be enlightened. Someone who is enlightened probably has no use for brands, consumables, material possessions, knowledge about the world, or much else. They're the closest thing to a zombie or brain-dead. They're useless, conceited drop-outs from real life, and if they consider themselves "geniuses" everyone else will only consider them idiots. Enlightenment = comfortably settling for nothing in your life. This could be a good survival instinct for those who are too sick and weak to succeed otherwise, but it should not be glorified as intelligent or genius.

So then we can conclude from your reasoning, it’s the unenlightened who seek moral superiority through superior consumption.

You do realize that all you say, you say to Self, and all that you hear, comes from Self, which is not to say that all you hear is all that is said.
