Rollings Stones - Dead Flowers (live 1971)

Post by Tomas »

Was a time when shadows grew bones,

stood up and walked whistling

past graveyards and no one feared midnight.

Alchemy was called Science

and therefore had to be torn down

and rebuilt. And all took responsibility for

their wickedness as well as their power.

Blue like water
Blue like heaven is all of
the time
I'm all right
I'm just gagging on all the
all right
I'm so happy
So happy
I'm in heaven
Yeah heaven
Oh the season's come for
opium
Mom...mom
Mom...mom
I'm so happy
So happy
I'm in heaven
Yeah heaven
Oh the seizures come
from opium

God is a Garbage Engineer...

monster of metal you
spout us every day
shuffle us around
to hear us say

look up high we
must look like from there
silver metal sparkle lights, too,
scattered with aristocratic rights,
beaming for billions to see,
the riches of the gods in a black mirror,
must surely be taken there some time
to join what is us

but when these dancing minds
close their lids
i sway awake at night,
and as the snoozing garbage heap dreams
see a star fall every night
so we won't go up to stay
will we'll be polished to burn,
or burn to be polished,
trash that thinks it will be taken
when its come to be brought,
huddle together disposed goods
only the stars can stay so far apart
and can shine so right

All I wanted was a place to live
Land and life my people to give
Tortured by their Holy Land
You offer them this broken plan
Ruby's red and the gold I sold
for what you left tumbled in the cold

I wanna be, wanna hold
Wanna take the people from their
former pain
Wanna see, wanna show
Wanna take the people from their
former land

Dreams before my eyes unfold
1000 stories left untold
Offer them my open hand
You left them die in the desert sand

Pillars melted like scars
from the assault, stories crumbled
into the sun like salt, you offer
them freedom you threw me out
this was all my F---ault

I'm Waiting

Post by Tomas »

.

I'm waiting, and I'm patient.
Waiting slowly, and
waiting's lonely.
Two months, just a dream.
Three days, you might
have been.
Life passing, and I'm casting,
A line to you.
Time changing, rearranging.
It happens quickly,
and very gently.
It happens slowly,
very slowly.
Two months, just a dream.
Three days, you might
have been.
Nine weeks, you start to show.
Then our love can only grow.
Then we'll see what
it's all about.

Mildred

Post by Tomas »

.

Mildred says her life is alright
She does her job and sleeps well at night
Her days are filled with underwear and
Idle conversations
Mildred says her life is alright

Mildred leaves the day well behind
With her uniform and place in the line
Punch the clock and start the car
She's a thing of adulation
Mildred says her life is alright

Mildred is it o.k.? This never ending
day to day. I need to say to you
If I only had the courage to

Mildred's pushing on twenty-eight
And she doesn't have a mark on her slate
She's been nowhere, she's done nothing
She's coasting to a standstill
Mildred says her life is alright

When she comes over, she doesn't have a
lot to say. As she gets older
Nothing happens anyway
It's just the same old play by play

Mildred says her life is alright
She does her job and sleeps well at night
Her days are filled with underwear and
Idle conversations
Mildred says her life is alright

Red Demon

Red Demon rushing
around and he doesn't
make a sound and he's
quiet and he's all around
Like cats nosing around
and they're quiet and
they don't make a sound
Red Demon rushing
around Hopes and
dreams and wishes and
desires Like fire creeping
through it creeps right
up through you and
you're up in smoke like
leaves on a pile Our love
will survive it will curl
around the night Like
certain words like sigh
and cry Red Demon
rushing around It's
underground now Like
fire creeping through it
creeps right up through
you and you're up in
smoke like leaves on a
tree like fire creeping
through it creeps right
up through you Red
Demon rushing around
and he's quiet and he
doesn't make a sound
and he's all around like a
cat nosing around Our
love will survive it will
curl around the night
Red Demon rushing
around it's underground

Pin Up Boy

Post by Tomas »

.

With a staple gun and a can of paste
We'll paper the streets with your face
Wall to wall pole to pole
Let the welcome wagon roll
We will manage your exposure
Press release with full disclosure
Holding back the front page for
The face that locked a thousand doors

Now you're a Pin Up Boy
A Pin Up Boy
Recognized in every bar
Every playground every car

I'm out of alignment pulling right
A contradiction in this fight
Two wheels running on the shoulder
All a part of getting older?

Should I keep at the foot of my children's bed
Teeth on a leash kept underfed
They're raising a racket at the rifle range
I've half a mind to take my aim

At the Pin Up Boy The Pin Up Boy
Up in arms and growing bolder
Every citizen a soldier
Pin Up Boy, Pin Up Boy
Believe the hype and the attention
Necks grow red at every mention

Of you, I saw you on the air
Crying it's not fair
Cameras here and everywhere
For you and all the time you've done
Will ease the minds of none
Your sentencing has just begun

Tomas.. impresive verbal imagery! :-D

Check this one out from George Carlin.
"I’m a modern man, a man for the millennium. Digital and smoke free. A diversified multi-cultural, post-modern deconstruction that is anatomically and ecologically incorrect. I’ve been up linked and downloaded, I’ve been inputted and outsourced, I know the upside of downsizing, I know the downside of upgrading. I’m a high-tech low-life. A cutting edge, state-of-the-art bi-coastal multi-tasker and I can give you a gigabyte in a nanosecond!
I’m new wave, but I’m old school and my inner child is outward bound. I’m a hot-wired, heat seeking, warm-hearted cool customer, voice activated and bio-degradable. I interface with my database, my database is in cyberspace, so I’m interactive, I’m hyperactive and from time to time I’m radioactive.

Behind the eight ball, ahead of the curve, ridin the wave, dodgin the bullet and pushin the envelope. I’m on-point, on-task, on-message and off drugs. I’ve got no need for coke and speed. I've got no urge to binge and purge. I’m in-the-moment, on-the-edge, over-the-top and under-the-radar. A high-concept, low-profile, medium-range ballistic missionary. A street-wise smart bomb. A top-gun bottom feeder. I wear power ties, I tell power lies, I take power naps and run victory laps. I’m a totally ongoing big-foot, slam-dunk, rainmaker with a pro-active outreach. A raging workaholic. A working rageaholic. Out of rehab and in denial!

I’ve got a personal trainer, a personal shopper, a personal assistant and a personal agenda. You can’t shut me up. You can’t dumb me down because I’m tireless and I’m wireless, I’m an alpha male on beta-blockers.

I’m a non-believer and an over-achiever, laid-back but fashion-forward. Up-front, down-home, low-rent, high-maintenance. Super-sized, long-lasting, high-definition, fast-acting, oven-ready and built-to-last! I’m a hands-on, foot-loose, knee-jerk head case pretty maturely post-traumatic and I’ve got a love-child that sends me hate mail.

But, I’m feeling, I’m caring, I’m healing, I’m sharing-- a supportive, bonding, nurturing primary care-giver. My output is down, but my income is up. I took a short position on the long bond and my revenue stream has its own cash-flow. I read junk mail, I eat junk food, I buy junk bonds and I watch trash sports! I’m gender specific, capital intensive, user-friendly and lactose intolerant.

I like rough sex. I like tough love. I use the “F” word in my emails and the software on my hard-drive is hardcore--no soft porn.

I bought a microwave at a mini-mall; I bought a mini-van at a mega-store. I eat fast-food in the slow lane. I’m toll-free, bite-sized, ready-to-wear and I come in all sizes. A fully-equipped, factory-authorized, hospital-tested, clinically-proven, scientifically- formulated medical miracle. I’ve been pre-wash, pre-cooked, pre-heated, pre-screened, pre-approved, pre-packaged, post-dated, freeze-dried, double-wrapped, vacuum-packed and, I have an unlimited broadband capacity.

I’m a rude dude, but I’m the real deal. Lean and mean! Cocked, locked and ready-to-rock. Rough, tough and hard to bluff. I take it slow, I go with the flow, I ride with the tide. I’ve got glide in my stride. Drivin and movin, sailin and spinin, jiving and groovin, wailin and winnin. I don’t snooze, so I don’t lose. I keep the pedal to the metal and the rubber on the road. I party hearty and lunch time is crunch time. I’m hangin in, there ain’t no doubt and I’m hangin tough, over and out!"

~George Carlin, a comedic genius and poet extraodinaire

Flies

Post by Tomas »

.

Flies, and other bugs I know, can survive leaving home. I, and other people I know, can survive leaving home.

Trees, and other tall things, move around, but not very much. Me, my friends and me, move around all over the world.

If you don't like us then we probably won't like you. It's only human nature, it's what people do.

They are different from us. It's OK, it's better that way. So, if we open our eyes, there will be something outside.

If you don't like us then we probably won't like you, but we may want to be like you.

Mary had a little lamb,
She tied it to a pylon.
10,000 volts went up its ass
And turned its wool to nylon.

THE TALE OF TWO PARTIES

Post by Tomas »

.

THE TALE OF TWO PARTIES

For the people by the people our decrees
So the propaganda reads
Choose what party that will lead
But in the end it's all the same.

From the white house press
To the lobbying fungus
Politics attracts the lowest among us
While the need to solutions grows humongous
The separation of heart and state.

Government I think we've lost connection
Government We need some real direction
Government Why don't you look this way
Or are we the problem for another day?

Any kingdom of man is just an illusion
I wanna see God's revolution
Every day without a change
One step closer to the guillotine.

From the house of reps to the senate floor
The first agenda is one term more
The supreme court is a broken chord
They've thrown away the absolutes.

The higher up the more it's bent
How many a common residence
Holds a better president
Then the clowns we've suffered through.

So many years our dreams deferred
It looks so pretty cuz our vision's blurred
But America is perfect or haven't you heard?
It's on the TV and the radio.

Another party is what we need
Of people not steeped in lies and greed
A movement not afraid to say we've gone wrong
And take us back to where we belong.

Time grows short so don't hesitate
Or one tomorrow outside your gates
With angry hearts and empty plates
The neglected masses of United States.

Like A Ball

Post by Tomas »

.

we all have shadows round our hearts
and what we think it plays a part
if you think vengeance is for good
i think you have misunderstood
as the hatred flows...
so the mystery goes...

how much abuse can one man take?
how did you learn to love your hate?
the truth is there but not so clear
and in your heart you rule by fear
like a hit and run...
you know you're the one...

this is the thing i'd like to know
and since you're not pinocchio
do you like to make them dance & sing
when you get them in the ring?

every day like a re-run
somebody has to beat someone
and those kids grow into the law
who think they are above it all
as the hatred grows...
so the misery flows...

if you think torture is for good
it's clear you have misunderstood
cause torture is just like a ball
which rolls around back to us all
as the power flows...
so the mystery goes...

just like a child wants to win
you got your hell...you got your sin
you push your violence on the weak
and prey on the ones
who cannot speak
where the ego goes...
seems nobody knows...

Evil White Man

Post by Tomas »

.

Evil White Man

I wish I was a red man
So I'd know where I come from
So I could bang on my drum
But I'm an evil white man

I wish I was a black man
So I'd know right from wrong
So I'd never belong
So I'd protest this song
But I'm an evil white man

My only claim towards fame is the propensity
To violate the human rights of all humanity

I wish I was a woman
So I'd think with my head
Not just that thing 'tween my legs
So I'd live twice as long
Dance on my grave when I'm gone
But I'm an evil white man

The Stranger

Post by Tomas »

.

The Stranger came to our seaside town in the spring. We get a lot of tourists, a new face shouldn't attract that much attention, but this guy was a queer sort and it didn't take long before people started to talk. Old Bill who runs the Bait Concession down at the pier got the ball rolling when he told about this joker coming down there one day, with a stool and a fishing pole.

According to Bill, the guy plops down on the stool and proceeds to throw in a line with a sinker, but no hook. Then he leans back against the rail and closes his eyes and gets this ignorant looking smile on his face. But when Bill inquired just what the hell he thinks he's doing, the Stranger just opens his eyes, and smiles, and says real slow:

He's letting the fish live their lives.

Then my cousin Cindy, who works at that new place down in the shopping center, says this same guy comes in there alone one night, dressed to the teeth. Sits down and orders the most expensive dinner in the house, and when it comes, he leans back, closes his eyes and gets that spooky looking smile on his face. But when Hank, the Maitre D, goes up and asks if everything's all right, the Stranger just opens his eyes, and smiles, and says real slow:

Yes, everything's fine. He especially likes the way his clean skin feels inside his fine silk suit.

Folks kept a pretty close eye on the Stranger after that, so he wasn't able to cause much real trouble. Still, when he left in the fall, you could kind of hear the whole town breathe a sigh of relief. Even though no one said a word. I just thank God no body was hurt.
The Stranger came to our seaside town in the spring.

Processed burger joint
Just by the station
American multi's find a willing generation
Taking leads from a mixed up civilization
Popcorn memories of the older 'gals
Silk stocking from their G.I. pals
No language blockade to stop this generation

From the Bronx to Brooklyn to the China Sea
Production lines are no way to be free
Life is techno cheap, cheap, cheap

Look to the East
Rising of the Sun
Look to the West
Setting of another one

IMAGINE 2

Post by Tomas »

.

imagine, imagine imagine
it's no mystery
no fiction and no benediction
no saints of history

where no gods can make you kill
no religion like a pill
where every man is free

where no church and no gold cross
no prophet and no loss
no need for poverty

imagine, imagine imagine
no fairy tale to weave
imagine a heaven within you
no illusion to believe

running away from the real truth
you will ever see
going nowhere in a lightyear
living misery

imagine, imagine imgine
no dreams no fantasy
no mission and no superstition
just plain reality

where no religion makes you whole
no devil steals your soul
where truth is spoken free

where no dogma makes you sick
and no government can trick
just plain reality

ten billion suns in an eyes view
spinning like a wheel
empty your heart of cold scriptures
to find what is real

imagine, imagine imagine
love and peace and harmony

Have you got some time?

Post by Tomas »

.

Have you got some time? Cause I'll tell you how I feel.
You'd better stay on the line,
while my thoughts are concealed.
Well, I want you to know,
though the years may come and the years may go.
There will always be this bond we know.

When we were young, love was fragile, love was fast.
We had our fun. How could we know that it would not last.
Now I can see that there was more to you,
there was more to me.
Cause we became what only good friends
are supposed to be.

Why don't you look inside and take a look at my life.
Do you see a familiar face?
Choices made, whether wrong or right,
never hold back the hand of grace.

Have you got some time when friends are hard to find.
I hope you'll always be there, when love is on the line.
Have you got some time when friends are hard to find.
I know you'll always be a friend of mine.

tell me something, it's too hot to be here
there are no trees along this river bed there's just a house
with dogs and pictures of dead indians
sticks and stones are the color of your skin
There's a rabbit's den and pictures of dead indians

and it smells like razor blades
I've been dead for days

tell me something, it's too hot to be here
seems like I've been walking
with just the river talking,
only time goes by
only the days go by,
I'm no longer walking I'm no longer walking,
no longer walking

and it smells like razor blades
I've been dead for days

God bless Lolita
for taking it all away
God bless Lolita, Lolita
