I watched your favourite movie tonight Laird.
It pulled the marrow out of my bones.
an infinitely gentle, infinitely suffering thing is life.

The Lark Ascending featured in the movie.
It manages to be haunting, bittersweet and soaring all at once.
good words for it.

That music 'gets' the ancient yearning in the great chain of being.

I'm glad it had that affect on you, Dennis. I first saw it when I was just a little younger than Danny was in the movie, and living in rural Australia, so it struck home.

I guess you felt like a fish out of water given your sensitivity.

In terms of Jane Campion, "Sweetie" will always be a favourite for me.

Yes, the tragic-aesthetic. Faisal was quite taken with the tragic-aesthetic. Once studied, said he always wondered why comedies never won Oscars (pronounced "Owscars" in his english).

Faisal is going home soon to Kuwait. He wants to become a Fire Chief.

This is impressive, telling the audience's tragic stories.

Music: The Tallest Man On Earth

Closest thing to early Bob Dylan I've ever heard.

A Swedish dude. Not a bad songwriter either, though doesn't seem to be any classics, just easy listening.

A brilliant poet that Dylan, but man, that voice …

*

"No reason to get excited,"
The thief, he kindly spoke
"There are many here among us
Who feel that life is but a joke
But you and I, we've been through that
And this is not our fate
So let us not talk falsely now, the hour is getting late"
