brain power

what prevents us from accessing our full brain power?
what you need to focus on to gain access to more brain power?

Why do you think there's more power in store to access somewhere?

Like with muscles there are things you can train for: memory, focus, moods or endurance by simply frequency, repetition or using some trick I suppose. There are methods to memorize large amounts of data for example like a speech or a whole book, word for word. Not all brains are alike though so no use in hammering a round peg into a square hole!

Perhaps of interest here are the terms neuroplasticity or look for information on the "plastic brain": https://sharpbrains.com/blog/2008/02/26/brain-plasticity-how-learning-changes-your-brain/

From my own experience, looking back, combined with the increasing insights in the plasticity of the neural tissue of the brain, it's rather clear that connections, like grooves in the old LP recording are formed by repetition of experiences over the many years. If the experience is strong (drugs, sex or other peak moments) the new grooves can form pretty quickly. What I noticed is that we feel very uncomfortable, wrong or even sick when leaving such grooves again. We need to repeat! And so the addiction and habits are formed. We tend to follow what makes us feel comfortable and healthy of course. But we might rationalize this with bogus reasoning just to stay the course.

If you want to change the brain and its neural pathways, it might have to include repeating behavior or actions which will feel counter-intuitive and wrong. Or it would make you feel very bad or off for a while. This is also called "breaking the loop". But our neurology adapts quickly and new habits (or addictions!) can form. Overall, better not to let grooves form too deeply over the course of your life. Try to implement some changes in environments, people or work over the decades. Don't get stuck in repeat unless it's our own natural breathing and a calm, steady heartbeat.
