Neutrality is a Lie

Post by Orenholt »

Neutrality is a false concept and depends on context.

If we look at something like the concept of black (negative) and white (positive) we say that there is gray and classify that as neutral. However this is not true. Black is the absence of all colors. White is the presence of all colors. So because gray is between the two extremes of black and white we can conclude that gray actually has SOME color and because there is some color present that gives it a positive quality.

A reverse example of this would be with numbers. If we say that there is negative 1, zero, and positive 1 we generally assume that zero is neutral. However we must consider the fact that negative 1 can never exist aside from in our own minds. For example, you can never literally "see" negative 1 apples, you can only imagine that there should be one when there isn't. Likewise you can never literally "see" zero apples either. Thus, positive 1 is the only real quantity in this group.

If we perceive everything as good then there is no contrast, thus everything neutral IS good.
If we perceive everything as bad then there is no contrast, thus everything neutral is bad. But bad is false.
Thus, neutrality is equivalent only to good.

Brownish grey. :P

But there is a difference between color as light and color as pigments.
We know that white light contains all colors because when we put it through a prism it becomes a rainbow.
