How soon?

Post by Getoriks »

On the one hand, one should strive with all their might to become enlightened as soon as they possibly can. One could die from a freak accident or sudden illness at any moment, so there is no time to waste! Yet on the other hand, being Eternal, what rush is there to awaken?

Perhaps it is neither a hard and fast rule of "do it now" nor "do it when ever", but what ever is appropriate to the person's own need to evolve, relative to the moment a person has had enough suffering.....

What's the worst that could happen by dying unenlightened?

"Don't be silly chumps
Just purse your lips and whistle - that's the thing
And...

Always look on the bright side of life... (whistle)
Come on!
Always look on the bright side of life... (whistle)"

Well that's hardly bad at all.

The thing is you don't know. How is that not the actual worst thing?

It could indeed be the worst thing but it doesn't seem that bad in and of itself.
