God in delusion

Post by maestro »

Could it be possible that a egoistical God created the world.
Then it could be possible that few people in the world (like Buddha) can figure out the real truth about nonexistence of a self and everything being in flux and a byproduct of cause and effect, while the egoistical god still does not get it.
Thus we the created have the possibility to surpass the creator. Something like that is also the basis of gnostic Christianity, where the the devil (in the form of the snake) is the first Buddha who understands this fact, and urges Adam and Eve to seek knowledge, which angers God, and he throws them out of the garden. Christ is again an enlightened figure who is in rebellion against the old God.

How the world would have been different if Gnostic Christianity had been the dominant Christianity, interpreted metaphorically there are elements of rebellion against the old established structures and finding out the true knowledge for oneself, and refusing to wallow in a semi paradise of delusion.

An egotistical God is creating the world most people know. Wisdom is a rebellion against this idea of God, you're right. A new God is revealed, but it's really the only God that was. The snake urging us toward wisdom understood that through finding the true God within the egotistical God, growth has to occur. The true God didn't throw us out, but we turned away, essentially. It comes with the territory of pioneering new growth.
