I wish people would just summarise in their own words whatever they find on the web, rather than just providing the link. I've only got dial-up, and everything takes ages to download.

Yes, that's the trouble with comedic philosophy - it can be clever and insightful, but in the end it's an empty shell. It's a safehouse for the cowardly, basically. Benign catharsis.

once again, you're avoiding the fact that responsible women exist.

They probably do, but they're not in relationships.

Why not? Because men don't go for that kind of women?

No, because relationships are irresponsible!

Are one-night stands more responsible, then?

I'm tempted to say yes to that. In the end there's probably less delusion involved.

OK, so then I'll have to hope these responsible people don't catch AIDS or some other STD.

One nighters are fine as long as sex is not involved.

So do you not think that sex is the very purpose of one nighters?

I thought that was funny. I am a woman. Thanks Faust13. Yes, responsible women do exist. Comedic philosophy is perhaps empty because it embodies a generalization or an extreme, and truth must be balanced. Oh, and I've never been in a relationship, lol. But I don't think relationships are irresponsible. Sex outside of a relationship I definitely find irresponsible tho.

My point was that until sex is involved in a relationship there's rarely a serious issue. Sex brings problems.

Brings to mind a quote:

Kierkegaard wrote:It happened that a fire broke out backstage in a theatre. The clown came out to inform the public. They thought it was just a jest and applauded. He repeated his warning, they shouted even louder. So I think the world will come to an end amid general applause from all the wits, who believe that it is a joke.

yes, I too find it entertaining to watch comedians who incorporate their philosophy into their acts, here are a few other short clips on a variety of topics that are fairly interesting -

Bill Hicks - Positive Drug Story

Lewis Black-Fossils:The Devil's Handiwork

George Carlin - The Planet Is Fine

Dave Chappelle - Men and Women
FKA Cosmic Prostitute

I'm moderately sure responsible women exist, however, if they go about looking for truly responsible men the way I go about looking for responsible women (which is to say, not at all) then we shall never meet.

I don't feel the drive to go through a dozen minor relationships a year (and all the inevitable drama), waste innumerable hours of my time, and uncountable dollars that I don't feel like frivolously throwing away just on something I don't feel like I need. If I were like one of many people I know who felt there was some emptiness in my life then maybe I could care but I really don't.
