Any 'Power' In Thinking?

Hi everyOne!
I'm new and like to just jump in...so here goes.

Is our mind actually a collective morphogenetic field that creates a synchronized arrangement of reality's elements from moment to moment based on the magnetic resonance and signals (feedback)of each part...
OR
(like we seem to be taught by society in general...)
our/my mind is only an everchanging brain generated screen of self-indulgence?

Before you answer let me ask you this...
have you ever personally experimented with the idea that your mind is a reality effecting tool (other than the obvious uses...planning, talking, writing, etc.)?

Hello Thinker,

The mind seems to have this amazing capability to filter out enough of Reality as to create our private little worlds. Emotions and desires, hidden or not, continue to give form to this distortion as to create a playground.

Our experiences of seemingly collective or synchronized events are more like a side-effect of the Oneness that Reality really is.

As for our mind affecting reality, it's way more important to first find out how our mind keeps getting affected by everything else, all of the time, and why we desire so much to claim control.

I MUST CONTROL THE WORLD!!!

Just kiddin.............
I believe that's the way our reality works already...
each part changes the unified field, movement by movement, whether it's the 'pop' of a quark, the orbit of an electron, the leap of a deer, or you driving your car.
But I also believe in a continuous feedback loop between the parts and the synchronized whole and this communication link is responsible for morphing/evolutionary changes ( morphogentic fields ).

Obviously we know the power of the mind to effect physical changes....stress...heartbeat, hives, shock,etc.... and the theories in quantum physics about the power of the observer in effecting reality on the quantum level.

<img src="http://www.almaden.ibm.com/st/quantum_i ... mr/NMR.gif" style="border:0;"/>

From IBM's Almaden Research Center
(when they unveiled the world's largest quantum computer)

The biggest problem with quantum computers is that the quantum states must remain unobserved...
<hr>

So either the magnetic resonance of the observer (which is effected by his mind) or his thoughts effect the quantum balance.

What do you think?

Sit quietly with a small object, such as a paper clip, in front of you. Try to levitate it using only the power of your mind. Sit for as long as it takes.

Let us know how you do.

If that's not what you mean by power, then what do you mean?

As you know that would be an advanced demonstration (I don't know anyone who can focus to that degree.
Personally I have been able to move clouds that way but metallic objects aren't as whimsical.

The first experiment is usually to get a sense of your own personal ability to focus or concentrate.
Most people start by picking an object they really want or like but don't see in their normal daily activity.
You think about it being in your presence as though it were actualy present, and then see how long it takes to attract the physical counterpart.
This gives you a feel for your present ability.

The first time I tried this in 1973 it took me two days to manifest the item.
Since then I've improved my ability to concentrate but I operate in broader strokes as it is less demanding and more rewarding.

Lou,

I can see the practical utility in your belief system and the affirmation involved in the developing of your model. It's a simple, even elegant, system which many could make use of and more importantly, many could buy into the reasoning behind it.

I can see that you truly believe in the system and you even believe that most, if not all, of the model is truth.

Do you think that, in the time and effort you've dedicated to the model's develpoment, you're zeroing in on the prize or you've lost sight of the goalposts?

Yes and yes...
What started out as a search for answers during a crisis, turned into a plan for security through self-empowerment to escape corporate servitude but it mutated into a quest to create a perfect model of reality.
I learned some things about myself traveling down that 32 year corridor...I really can't focus on making money because my definition of wealth has little to do with money, and for me it's really about the excitment of dis-covery...the 'thrill' I get when a new understanding dawns on me.
So I'm still aiming for some goalposts, they just no longer have dollar signs on them. Edited by: Thinker23 at: 7/7/05 23:40

Well, I think you're right, in one way you've lost sight and in another you're zeroing in. You've lost sight of what were probably farily shallow original reasons for undertaking your reprogramming via inculcation (and rightly so) and yet you're homing in on the target, in that your quest for a model has brought you to value truth and an ulitimate understanding.

If you'll forgive me, I think your model is flat out bad science in that you have a belief which you are attempting to justify, backwards engineering an explanation to fit a preconceived conclusion. The holes in the theory are almost inevitable. This is not to say that it will be any less attractive or helpful to those who can't see that, and that's all that matters really because it will provide them with a belief system to bolster them in doing the important part - the practice of positive affirmations and unstinting belief (and the attendant mind-set) in it's literally physical truth and utility in actuality. People tend to need that kind of physical explanation these days.

For you personally, seems to me you're way past that stage. But as I said, your process has brought you to value truth and impelled you to pursue it. Lo and behold you end up here. This is a pretty unique and useful place for those who want to find out what truth really is, immerse themselves in it and reach an ultimate understanding.

Because of the nature of this place, and I would venture, your nature, I think that whilst here you would be better served in minimising the proselytising, keeping your eyes and ears fully open, and most importantly dropping adherence to any preconceived notions.

As I said, I think your system could be of great benefit to many people, many people here even, but I think you've arrived here for your benefit, not that of others.

Could you expand on this...be more specific.

The reason I post on messageboards is for the citicism....to get the insights you don't get isolated in some think tank...some are petty...others give me better clarity of composition and logic.

So I am open to well thought out criticism as long as the writer is not disrespectful or demeaning...then I bite back. Edited by: Thinker23 at: 7/7/05 23:40

I've read it all Lou but I'm afraid I don't have the time for that.

it is not the flaws thats the problem

it is you who reached the answer that is the problem
