Mind
Re: Mind
A definition of beauty that sustains the 'instinctive emotions,' perhaps.
What of beauty?
Where can you find the land of new values? Can you create a firery heart, capable of burning your sacred 'good' and 'bad' - 'beautiful' and 'ugly'? Could you pierce reality with a handmade blade?

As far as I am concerned I have pierced reality to somewhere near its core.
And the outcome?
Nothing you or anything anyone does or thinks matters in any way shape or form apart from to you personally. In which case then you should live a life that experiences. There are no experiences without emotions. Truth is certainly meaningless.
Your emotional expressions like ‘new values’ ‘fiery heart’ ‘burning’ ‘pierce reality’ are of no more meaning than any other emotion.
If you have a drive or strong desire for the continuation of the human race and think that by learning about reality is the way to prolong it, then you are not enlightened. It is as simple as that. True enlightenment is utterly nihilistic with regard to all values held by humans.

Everything is connected - the law of causality escapes no phenomenon.
If you selfishly desire to be recognized for your impact on others, then you will continually be disapointed. Your ego will blind you.
Keep digging.

On the subject of 'piercing reality' you better be hitting straight at its centre. No wiggle room here. To be 'somewhere near it' and drop down right there, could take one further away than the average delusional one is. This then becomes exactly the situation where nihilism tends to crawl its way in, as you so perfectly demonstrate.

jimhaz!
it is certainly true, our mind cannot be anywhere else but ourselves, therefore nothing else matters to us except what we experience
however that is assuming that our mind cannot be anywhere else
our conscious mind seems to be quite correct, however some unexplained actions could be taken by our subconscious mind at times
also
too many people are in the world, don't you think?

Re: Mind
I believe the 'mind' is a subtle energetic dimension where images can be created and stored...
limked to the subconscious of the storer which also creates a magnetic resonance for the
'creator/storer' with the rest of reality.
What we call 'the mind' may just be the most primal energetic area/dimension of expression.

Layers upon layers of energetic fields...
vibrating at different rates....
physical or 3D being the slowest.

Re: Mind
All these different dimensions/fields vibrating at different rates might be visualized this way (to get the idea)
all taking place simultaneously....

Mind
Our brain decodes and encodes energy - our mind is a product of this meta-processor. As a result, our mind is inherently connected to Reality - (partially) explaining precognition, telepathy, remote viewing, telekinesis, etc.
Do fetuses dream?
If we are essentially energy, perceiving energy - and certain forms of energy have yet to be explained or perceived - what of life, and what of death? Can energy be destroyed?
Thought is energy, but does it travel at the speed of light? What is the speed of thought?
E(Q) = M(X)?

Although I agree there is a connection,in my model of reality the mind is a primal field (perhaps the first formed) that has been the 'space', so to speak, for subtle energetic movements into patterns long before reality became complex enough to produce a brain or a human or a word or human concept such as a 'mind'.
Quote:Quote:
Do fetuses dream?

I have no idea...having never seen physical reality what could they image/imagine?
Quote:Quote:
- what of life, and what of death? Can energy be destroyed?

In my model, eternity is the 'energy',(or whatever the primal 'stuff' is) that includes it's eternal nature (to be dormant and active) which manifests all the temporal stuff known as creation.

Quote:Quote:
What is the speed of thought?

Since the idea of 'speed' involves the rate or a measure of the rate of motion and these are uncharted areas outside of normal space and time, it would be a difficult task.

Re: Mind
There is nothing strange or beautiful about the human mind, it is just a lump of flesh. What goes into it is what develops the concept that it is something, a product of upbringing, the developement of ideas, visions, that are not your own. The human brain idea has the capacity to envisage an infinite number of options, colors, ideas etc. but it is in itself limited by itself.
When you were a child, you likely believed in ghosts, monsters that were hiding in the closet. The human is something like a smart monkey who has too much brain power for its own good. Most thoughts you have are futile. You are a prisoner of your own "intelligence". Self-doubt and insecurity are not known concepts by alligators, lions and such. The mind of the animal is focused and severe, much more efficient than homo-sapiens vague insecurity and vulnerable nature.

As consciousness, if you ever had an out of body experience...you would believe differently.

That's what row row row your boat said, Life is but a dream...but the pain says otherwise (in a dream there's no pain).
My whole inner journey began with an out of body experience.
All I cared about at the time was money and being a millionaire...after I spent two weeks out of my body I needed some answers....hard to deny reality although people do it every day I guess.

At the time I was a businessman taking a course in Silva Mind Control, now known as The Silva Method.
I had just read 'Think And Grow Rich' by Napoleon Hill and wanted to program my subconscious with my business goals (mind you this was 1973 and I was dumb as a rock about these matters).
At the time their method of self-reprogrammming (self-hypnosis to me but they vehemently deny) included audible signals of slower heart rates plus other audible tones (probably theta signals), and relaxation.
Whatever the combination, it moved my center of awareness from my normal head area to a place two feet above my head (which I now know is called the 'crown charka' in some circles of thought).
Although I didn't fly to other places or dimensions I couldn't get back in my body. I spent two weeks in this condition, desperately looking for help, thinking I was dying, with no clue about what was happening.
An experience completely alien to my then 'cut and dry' views of reality but one nonetheless I could deny.
