shoju (important)

Post by со&am »

You're imposters, the whole lot of you.

You look like Zen monks, but you don't understand Zen. You remind me of the monks in the teaching schools -- but you haven't mastered the teachings. Some of you resemble precepts monks, yet their precepts are beyond you. There is a resemblance to the Confucians -- but you haven't grasped Confucianism either.

What, then, are you really like?

I'll tell you.

Trevor,

What's his name is quoting Hakuin's teacher, Shoju. Being that he did not state that, I think @$#% is implying that those who write here are likewise imposters. If anyone's keeping him here, it's himself.

I'd say that I'm much more like some random dude who posts about philosophy on the internet.

If only we all could be in a "serious relationship", have kids, and psychoanalyze people in our spare time. Come to think of it I know some people just like you, co&am, and that is pretty much every woman I've ever met!

Honestly, has anyone else realized how much women love so psychoanalyze men?

What's wrong with being a large rice bag?

Dorky responses thus far, to a pretty serious charge:

"No one's keeping you here," "You're a girl," "I'm some guy, and obviously not a bag of rice," and "I am a bag of rice, so what?" doesn't exactly refute it.

Or maybe the blurb was posted as just food for thought rather than being meant as an actual analogy. Nah, seems like the latter.

Not that men are any less guilty of this. I mean, look at this forum. :)

hmmm..

hello.

um

how to explain...

ok, so... lets say Bob goes into the forest looking for the diphillip bird, because he has some medicine for it. but the diphillip doesnt want the medicine, it tastes yuck and the diphillip has no brains for understanding why to take it. and in response to this, the diphillip has decided it is not a diphillip, and as such, does not need the medicine.

to the other birds, 'being or not being a diphillip' is just not there, it is connected to nothing, it is unmanifest.

for the diphillip, 'being or not being a diphillip' is important... it is connected with lots.

now, all birds look the same to Bob, so how does Bob find the diphillip bird to give it the medicine? here's how: he yells from the forest edge, "YOU'RE ALL DIPHILLIPS, ALL OF YOU!!!"

and apart from the occasional raised eyebrow or playful squark from some other type of bird, only the diphillip bird emerges to argue the point.

Damnit, good point! Although maybe giving them the title of men might be giving them the benefit of the doubt.

Dear @#$$%:

I like you... I once wrote a song and it goes like this... You see this face, smiling at you why don't you f*ck it, ahh f*ck my face!

I'm didn't quote that song to insult you. I quoted it because I felt like sharing something personal with you.

I look like a shaggy hobo, which I understand very well.

This thread serves no purpose other than to attack anything or anyone associated with wisdom because you're too fucking stupid to obtain it yourself.

It sounds pretty ugly and violent to me.

But John Stud and Buck Naked both think it is quite excellent, so that's something at least. I hear they even put it into practice on a regular basis.

Because you say isn't, little one, it's precisely relevant.

со&am: david sees his reflection in song
Does he? Or is со&am simply seeing his own reflection in David's words ...?

This type of game-playing is juvenile and meaningless. Anyone can play it. It has nothing to do with wisdom.

dont be silly
think harder, and with more honesty, and less pride
David Quinn wrote:This type of game-playing is juvenile and meaningless. Anyone can play it. It has nothing to do with wisdom.
dude you are the fellow playing that game.
for you, this is juvenile and meaningless... which begs the question, why are you bothering to play?

for you this has nothing to do with wisdom. and man, anyone who looks into the world and sees anything that has nothing to do with wisdom, is not friends with wisdom.

you do not own wisdom. you never can. wisdom is alive. you can never know anything that is alive, you cannot step into the same river even once.

If that is the case, fool, then why are you ticking me off? My responses, according to your line of thinking, cannot be anything other perfectly wise!

hello
David Quinn wrote:then why are you ticking me off?
i am not ticking you off, you are being ticked off. i am upsetting your belief structures, you are responding with ticked offness. people only get ticked off if they are disturbed mate. otherwise, they dont give a shit, they dont get ticked off. this is like, duh.

i will ask that.. why are you getting ticked off?

would you answer with something like, "cause you are foolish and annoying etc"?

dont you get a billion annoying fools through here?
you get ticked off at all of them?

the fact that you are ticked off, means i touched you, i upset a belief structure you depend on.
you can see this.
David Quinn wrote:My responses, according to your line of thinking, cannot be anything other perfectly wise!
no you misunderstand. i was referring to your choice of words there, "nothing to do with wisdom". i was not saying, everything in the world is wisdom. but wisdom isnt wisdom unless it is concerned with everything, yeah? or at least, it is incomplete, aint it?
understand?
no?
anyway, i meant something else.

OK, its definite.

Never, ever pay any attention to someone on a forum who is too fucking lazy to use grammar decently. You are just wasting your time. It is clear they are totally absorbed by their own ego.

Just give them the grace to see if English is a second language to them, but if it is not - just don't respond to their blatant ego impulses. Just delete their account, there are just too many of these crappers out there.

Okay, this ethic of blaming the victim has upset my belief structures.
