I don't know much about it, Katy. We only briefly went over it. I wasn't aware it failed. What did you mean that the revolutionaries lost control?

Great thread, Elizabeth. I didn't know that stuff about Australia or Mexico.

What history taught me is that the UK sucks.

I still see these types of nature shows on various channels. There was a great show just the other month on Discovery called Planet Earth. I like watching Man vs Wild, as well...which isn't so much a nature show as it is a survival one.

Leyla, Interesting advice. I guess, as an American, you don’t have to take it, eh? No, I can take it. I guess Kelly couldn't possibly have had a "good reason" to question America's right to bear arms. No, there wasn't a good reason. It'd be good if America looked like Mogadishu or someth...

Elizabeth,

I think it has less to do with gender, than it has to do with who in that gender would be attracted to a forum like this (one which is misogynistic) and end up staying.

In the scientific sense. Only regarding the women that post here. Both men and women can be nuts. Sorry it includes you...I am not trying to make you feel bad. If you want to discuss it further, please PM me about it.

Leyla, This is non-sequitur and without the paragraph I wrote after it, makes no sense at all. Really? I don't see how it makes no sense. You said America is sticking their noses in the domestic affairs of other countries, and I admitted that sometimes that may be true but a lot of the time it's nec...

Jason, Actually, Natural rights do exist. It's what we're able to do when other people aren't imposing their will upon us. I'm sure you've noticed this: nature allows people to impose their will upon others. You are part of the US military aren't you? Might makes right. I like the wording of this qu...

Kelly, I am studying this text deeply, in my daily life. When I am ready, and I think someone else is capable of understanding, I will talk about it. I like how you add that little twist, saying that you think I'm incapable of understanding it. What a bitchy move. The fact is that you want to feel s...

Kelly, Right now I am proving that I am serious, by deciding how to respond. I create the universe. Okay, you are amazing. Now how about you prove you're serious by responding to the Hakuin writing thread? To answer your question of: "How can anyone impose their will on you?"... Elizabeth ...

Shardrol, This thread seems to be mostly an opinionfest, so I thought I'd offer mine. I think at one time, long ago, it would have been a good idea to have more control of guns, but now it's way too late - at least in the US. When the country was first being set up there was a lot of concern not to ...

Kelly, As Jason points out, rights do not exist inherently in Nature. Not in the slightest. They've been created by people who cannot reason how to behave, for the same. Actually, Natural rights do exist. It's what we're able to do when other people aren't imposing their will upon us. There is no ri...

Kelly, Why do Americans need to have guns around anyway ? In other words, do they need to use them or not? Yes, they do need to use them for self defense in addition to hunting and sporting purposes. On a day to day basis, they're not needed. It's about being prepared for what might happen, but most...

BMcGilly07, As an American, I'll take issue with your response. Why wouldn't someone half-way across the world interest themselves in the goings-on of America? America's greatest export is her culture, spread far and wide by her corporations. I can understand your point. It's a good one. But look at...

Kelly, If a person accepts some idea from someone else, without thinking it through carefully, then there is something wrong with their mind. There are things wrong with most everyone's minds. A strong thinker can walk in someone else's footsteps and take their advice without becoming a disciple. Ye...
