Re: Break
Symmetry subsumes absolutism, not the other way around. If this "symmetry" is not absolute, then it is of no real consequence. If it is absolute, then it is falls within the category of things which are absolute. Yes, as David Quinn suggests, provide some real-world examples to show us ho...

Re: Bleaps
Kevin, Do you believe the reports of yogis, shamans, buddhas and sorcerers being able to develop bi-location siddhis? If a person can be at two places at the same time, then they should be able to demonstrate it. For example, they could be here talking to me now, and be where you are, talking to yo...

Re: Quantum
Hey, Anyone seen 'What The *Bleep* Do We Know?' Yes, it's one of the worst, most mindless things I've seen in a long time. The script often contradicts itself from one sentence to the next. For example, one moment they are saying "Quantum physics is all about possibilities", and the very ...

Re: Terrorism
I agree with you that it is a hell of a world to live in. I do not agree that they are doing the right thing. They are not doing the right thing. They are thugs. The problem is, we are approaching an age where suicide bombers might have a nuclear bomb strapped to them, and exploding it would take o...

well, i can see one way which infinity = 0, in that it shows infinity cannot possible exist, because as you say, its the whole of everything If the whole didn't exist, you wouldn't be able to write this. yet everything is still limited to something far less than infinity The whole, (ie, everything)...

Terrorism
I'm afraid I'm not connecting with the gist of this thread. Terrorism has always been illegal. It has never been "outlawed" as such because it is, by definition, already illegal. Yes, it's always been illegal, in the sense that murder has always been illegal. But Australia, at least, seem...

Re: ahh but infinity does equal zero
evaluate the following statement: We could use the term positive infinity to refer to all the positive numbers combined together, but such a term would not actually represent a completed sum or combined whole. It represents the whole . It is not necessary to "combine" or "complete&qu...

Terrorism
An interesting problem is presented with the outlawing of terrorism. It might happen that our world is invaded by a malevolent species who disband all our governments and militaries, and replace them with new ones under their majority (ie, democratic) control. The only way we could fight back would ...

In particular we object to the loss of power of the male If men cede their power to women, that is their choice. And you can't force them to do otherwise than they choose. We ...

I don't think so. A friend in Germany says she is on the news there regularly. She's also on the BBC news a lot, and in America, where talk show hosts have debated the case on air. Also on CNN.com pretty often. Well I don't understand what all the fuss is about. If she's guilty, then nothing. And i...

And I think that only a small percentage of Australians would recognize the name.

Re: interview
Lennyrizzo, Your points are well made. The West is indeed disgustingly immoral. But I don't know anywhere on earth that isn't. The thing about the West is that you really do have freedom to choose . You can choose whom you want to marry, which religion you want to follow, if any. You can choose whom...

Watson, Crick
Certainly, but if it wasn't for those very small expressions, almost hints, of genius, there wouldn't be any advances in science and knowledge.DavidQuinn000 wrote:They were just a couple of egotists chasing Nobel glory, weren't they?
I think they were displaying a touch more genius than the average male has.

Watson, Crick, DNA, Genius
I recently watched a documentary about Watson and Crick and the discovery of the structure of DNA. Essentially what happened was that Watson and Crick got the essential pieces of the puzzle from other people who were working on it, and then put the pieces together before anyone else did. It seems th...

yet mystery remains none the less. Saying that something is a mystery is really a contradiction in terms. Since if you know that something is necessarily mysterious, as opposed to something which might one day be understood, then you are claiming some sort of absolute knowledge, which is the exact ...

The more mystery that is revealed, the less mysterious the world becomes, since the question as to whether something is mysterious or not is removed.

Kevin, is a Spell-Check possible? My spelling sucks! Basically, my English sucks! I'm looking into adding a built-in spell checker, but in the meantime the google toolbar is a good way to do it. It has a button for checking spelling in any web form, not just the ones here on the forum. http://toolb...

Dating of posts
I used a program to convert all the old ezboard posts across to the new format, and it can't have done the timestamping perfectly - probably something to do with time differences around the world. I think it will right itself within 12 hours.
