Maybe you're right, but then again, how would you know. You have an ego and you don't know what it's like to be egoless.

Tim, The way I see things, philosophy is not in direct opposition to Christianity. I don't personally know if your beliefs are true or not...they sound dramatic and exciting! I haven't found them to be true, so those beliefs are kind of in limbo for me. I've found some of the things David and Kevin ...

Ah, my bad.

I don't really see how feeling automatically makes it egotistical. Does an egoless person not feel anything?

Dan, If a person feels superior, does it mean they're automatically not superior? Does someone need to dumb down the truth for the sake of not sounding too proud or arrogant? I don't think so. People seem to follow this modesty rule way too often. What's wrong with being superior to a mindless piece...

I do sometimes feel superior. To answer Rhett's question to hades - my reward is the personal freedom that goes along with it.

Mine would have to be Wisdom of the Infinite by DQ. It's so easy to understand.

Also, you CAN say that any true statement could be false. You are allowed to say that...but sometimes it doesn't mean anything (like my example about a person denying the existence of things). It's logically impossible to deny existence since existence must be there for you to deny it. The argument ...

You are right, like "unicorns exist". You can't prove it false unless you searched the entire realm of existence looking for a unicorn. Unicorns may exist!

But do you really believe in unicorns?

It's just developing a state of mind that's completely absorbed in one thing. It sounds weird coming from me (since I've always hated it), but doing math seems like it'd be a great way to develop your ability to focus. Trying to focus your concentration on something like a sound of a gong or mantra ...

what are the absolute truths, and how do you know they are true Something that is an absolute truth is something which could never be shown to be false. There are some truths which can be debated, like if you told someone how you really felt. It can be debated because no one knows what you're actua...

sevens are you just trying to sound stupid? Fractals, and any simple formula that may represent them, contains the essence of the Universe: Nothing. Zero. Nada. I like how people constantly try to find the pattern of the universe within a small part of the universe. If you were smart you'd know you can't. If there were some sort of microcosm that we could detect, it'd follow that the corresponding macrocosm would match it just in a much larger scale. It'd b...

It's cool to look at a bunch of other people's perspectives, but you should find your own. If what she has sounds good to you, then do what she did, but don't do it through her. Become curious about your own existence like she did. I just don't think that's enlightenment. She's had realizations, but...

It's not that women are worse at raising children than men, or men are worse than women....it's that both sexes are poor at it. It's enticing to believe people like that. They usually have really interesting things to say, which make little sense to you but you'll assume "well maybe they're right and I just have to see for myself!" Mostly it's a waste of time. If you want enlightenment just try to find the truth fo...

Why don't you just stick with your close friends, then? Course, being heterosexual, sex would be out of the question. :) That's pretty much what I do. Don't think I'm saying I don't want to have a relationship, and that I don't want to have a bunch of hot sex. I'm not deluded. I'm just telling you ...
