Re: FIGHT!
It's just getting redundant now. I'm not sure if you'd rather win an argument or really want to get to the bottom of this. Either way, I've said enough on this for you to chew on if you care to. Bowing out :) Thanks for what you've said. I appreciate the conversation. both is and isn't neither is o...

Re: FIGHT!
Where are you guys getting the idea that a "thing" has all these mandatory qualities (like finite and conceptual) to be a thing? A thing is ONLY required to be not a non-thing. The point of all the mandatory qualities is so that we can get to a proper understanding of things in their rela...

Re: FIGHT!
If you're saying that A must be conceptualized to equal A, then I would say that is false on 2 levels. 1.) A will always equal A whether you can conceive of it or not. Just because a person is illogical doesn't mean that logic no longer applies to their perception of reality (or even reality itself)...

I don't understand what you're saying here. What I'm saying is in A=A, if 'A' is "nothing", then 'not A' is everything but "nothing". Sorry about that. I misunderstood what you meant and I edited my post before I saw that you had responded. What I SHOULD have said was: And yes, ...

Get your position sorted on this: the fundamental question of all philosophy – should the starting point of logical deduction be the external world of matter considered as existing independently of human consciousness, or should consciousness itself be taken as the starting point, and the external ...

Re: FIGHT!
In the case of Infinity "not A" simply means "nothing" which affirms that there is only "A". Actually "not A" means anything and everything that isn't "A", including "nothing".. unless A is "nothing". Well yes, I didn't disagree ...

We're not talking about Infinity, we're talking about the Infinite. Ultimate Reality. You're still quibbling. I'm using the words "infinity" and "the infinite" and "Ultimate Reality" all synonymously. If the part I bolded is logically inconsistent point out where, plea...

Re: FIGHT!
No-thing, no-self, meaninglessness, etc. is the true state of Reality. It just is . Things, that is, the conception of things (including the concept of the Infinite), is dualistic because it deals with A and not A. Therefore, the Infinite, in true reference to it, is not a thing. Would you be happy...

Re: FIGHT!
Infinity cannot be a concept because if it were a concept then it would exist AS a concept and only finite things can exist, even as concepts. All we have is the WORD infinity and that is not infinity itself. (the tao that can be spoken is not the tao). Saying that the law of identity (logic) only a...

"Nothing" most definitely is a concept or else there wouldn't be any meaning behind the word. ..... What I'm trying to say is, Getoriks seems to be getting at the non-dual nature of the Infinite, while you're still quibbling with dualistic concepts. Well we can talk about square circles a...

If Getoriks is actually referring to Infinite/Ultimate Reality when he says "Infinity," then I would agree with him. But let's say that you two are arguing about the concept of Infinity. Then I would agree with your rebuttal to point 1. Point 2: The concept of Infinity is ultimately just ...

Re: FIGHT!
The wetness or dryness of gravity is absurd because gravity has no physical characteristics because it is a force, not an object. Existence or non-existence of Infinity is applicable though. It simply means to have an appearance, and we can agree that infinity doesn't have an appearance. Where we di...

Getoriks and I are locked in a battle. A battle of logic, but Getoriks is clearly on the side of evil! Things that Getoriks holds true (that I disagree with): 1.) Infinity is not a thing. 2.) Infinity neither exists nor doesn't exist. 3.) Infinity includes nothing. Point 1: Getoriks is clearly wrong...

Re: Enlightenment Made Easy!
Just to pick on Einstein - Reality is merely an illusion albeit a very persistent one. If he knew any better he would have said something like "Things" or "The existence of things" in place of Reality. Scientists have a habit of believing that things are Reality itself - it's ki...

Yes, I see what you're saying now Sue, at least I think so. Those women are just being women but those men are just being men too.
So my point still stands that if there is going to be any blame on these people it should be distributed equally among them rather than scapegoating one sex or the other.

Re: feminists are more hypocritical than I thought.
Orenholt, The "holier than thou" sense that women take on exposes the competing relationship between women. They're always sizing each other up to make sure they're not out of touch with the latest trends. Yes, I would agree with that. The video with the young nude women has become a big ...

Re: feminists are more hypocritical than I thought.
Other people would say that they're being independent and free - doing what they like because they can. All I've seen people say is that these women hold no accountability for their actions because they're being paid, because they know that it's wrong to support this video. If they were to acknowle...

Yes, I've heard of this experiment before. Thankfully I wasn't a part of it... blue eyes just remind me of a couple people in particular who I strongly dislike because they were mean. On the topic of gender
Gender is simply a concept and a social construct at best. Gender in short is what people perceive that the sexes "should" look and act like via stereotypical archetypes based on sex. People see gender as a form of self expression but what they don't realize is that they are putting themse...

Re: feminists are more hypocritical than I thought.
Just to be clear, Orenholt, is what you're saying: the video clip is sexist, and the women participating in it, as consenting adults, are equally as culpable for the sexist message as the men? If so, I agree. I wonder though whether the sexism bothers you as much as the feminist reaction to the vid...
