Re: Poison for the Heart - and Women

I've heard this idea before, that an enlightened person would be 'boring'. We here in the West seem to have a cultural prejudice in favor of neurosis. Many believe that it is the root of artistic achievement of all kinds. I'm one of those who believes delusion is the conceptual creationary force. W...

Skipair

I didn't mean that we're more neurotic here in the West than they are in the East, but I thought Neil's comment about 'boring' illustrated a common fallacy of western culture. Eastern culture is neurotic in different ways.

Re: Poison for the Heart - and Women

What women don't like to admit is their ordinary need to be controlled. And this can be seen by her purely selfish behavior regarding the "beta males" of her public social group, and her secret respect for the "alpha males" that fuck her in private. Women go around talking about...

Re: The Voice of Woman

I would pronounce the words the same as you. In this country at one time there were some hardcore feminists who wanted to remove the syllable 'men' from 'woman' & 'women' so they wrote them 'womyn' & 'wimmin' respectively, preserving the vowel distinction. This seems to have mostly gone out ...

Re: Thanks to those I visited in the US and Canada

Yes, by 'professional' I meant something like conforming to industry standards. This is useful when trying to appeal to people who don't already understand & agree with one's message. Why create another obstacle? I do think your idea would gain attention but it would also cause the book to be di...

Re: Thanks to those I visited in the US and Canada

Good grief, Diebert, you're even more cynical than I am. However I disagree with your analysis. I think that a professional looking cover makes it more likely that the book will be taken seriously. I'm not suggesting naked babes holding martinis lolling around the lettering but I did find a great ph...

Poison for the Heart - and Women

[Re: Poison for the Heart ] Here is a link to the proposed cover. Any feedback? I don't like it. The drawing is vague & doesn't appear to have anything to do with the subject unless it's a picture of a poisonous plant & if so, this is too subtle for a cover. I don't like the block letter sty...

Re: Thanks to those I visited in the US and Canada

Does it worry you, Kevin, that it is primarily women who are rushing to your defense? What is it that you are giving them? This is simply not true. The two biggest defenders of Kevin's traveling on this thread have been Elizabeth & Unidian - that's one & one for the genders. If you count my...

Re: Thanks to those I visited in the US and Canada

David You & some others here have spoken about wisdom & enlightenment as if they are states that can be attained, rather than particular experiences in the context of 'ordinary' life. If enlightenment means the lack of all delusion, how is it that delusion could return after having been bani...

Re: Thanks to those I visited in the US and Canada

It's surprising to me that some people here are criticizing Kevin's trip & the posting of his photos from the position that this violates known parameters for the behavior of a sage. How can there be any limits or constraints on the behavior of a sage? How can anyone claim to understand all the ...

Re: Thanks to those I visited in the US and Canada

Shardrol, I thought you had a personal guru of some kind. Or is it just the Buddha himself that you are married to? At the very least, you seem wedded to a particular Buddhist tradition. Sorry, yes I do have a personal guru of some kind but he's not Tibetan - that's what threw me off. But wouldn't ...

Re: Publishing without Perishing

Rather than think of Lulu et al as vanity publishers, I just think of them as printers. I wonder if Lulu would actually allow itself to be used as a printer, i.e. not have the book be 'published' by Lulu but by whatever name the author wanted to use (Genius Press, for example). You can improve the l...

It was evening. Kevin had just returned from a long day of sightseeing. I couldn't help but notice there were tiny beads of sweat forming on his noble brow as he walked into the upstairs room. "Would you like something to drink?" I asked in a sultry voice. "How about a cup of tea?&quo...

Publishing without Perishing

A little mini-fracas on Kevin's travel thread reminded me that I meant to tell you people about lulu.com, which is one of those publish-on-demand places. You upload your manuscript & choose the format & they will print however many books you want. It costs around $6.50 for one copy of a 100-...

Re: The World of Woman - Rich Zubaty & Sue Hindmarsh

The last few posts & the form that the ensuing discussion will probably take are a perfect example of the kind of needless confusion caused by using the terms 'man', 'woman', 'masculine' & 'feminine' as QRS & others do. When one finds oneself saying things like 'in order to become enligh...

Living off the land on your own takes a great deal of labor & planning. I would say more than an average job. If you're looking for isolation you can find it in the middle of a city. It depends on how you live & your own state of mind. The bigger the city, the more people will ignore you unl...

philosophers think they can live fully solitary lives and end loneliness. but they haven't done it because they know it's impossible. How can you know no one has done it? Talking on Genius Forums is not being fully solitary. I would like to see someone go to the woods and live a completely alone an...
