Re: Never will you be wise or enlightened
The common egocentric state (unenlightened) is the illusion of separate self.... "I'm in this bubble of 'me', and the world is out there, 'not me.' Fact: I am part of something and separate from other parts. You use dubious metaphysics to arrive at this religious believe that you don't exist, ...

Re: Never will you be wise or enlightened
Enlightenment is a myth that some people subscribe to in order to reach for something they believe has value --- but just like Christian salvation or any other lie, it is futile, since there is nothing to be saved from, and there is nothing that gets saved. enlightenment and santa claus both exist ...

Re: Quantum Mechanics and randomness
You boys keep trying to fit reality into the narrow framework of your silly wanna-be thinking. Guess what? The Universe does not conform to your prejudices. What Universe are you talking about Mr?? If we define Universe as Nature, masculinity, ... pure wisdom..., etc, it can be logically deduced th...

Re: Courage vs. Cowardice
A sage is too weak for the world as far as labor is concerned. He is too sensitive, it is not a matter of cowardice, it is simply that he is too aware of the plight of labor, and he’s acutely aware of the slavish patterns involved with labor. I agree that he is too weak as far as worldly values a...

Re: Naturalistic philosophy denies life?
Logic itself isn't a model. It is simply the exploration of identity. It looks at particular models and determines whether identity within the model is being violated or not. So when I philosophize, I don't attempt to create any models. What I do is use logic to address the models that are already ...

Re: Naturalistic philosophy denies life?
David, You are the one trying to model the "Totality" itself. Logic is your modeling tool, and it itself is just a model. Everything we have is a model, except the empirical world, reality -- that which you "point to" with your words. Good luck using models to remove all models. ...

Re: Quantum Mechanics and randomness
I am a little confused here too victor... You say that if we dig deep enough into the physical factors that a dice roll is determined. However, if there are truly random inputs into the physical system on a low level shouldn't this result in our not being able to determine the outcome of a dice roll...

Re: Courage vs. Cowardice
I think it would take more courage to commit suicide than to simply drop out of life -- have no worries or responsibilities, no goals or desires, etc.
Perhaps it would take even more cowardice to, from this position, then rationalize your superiority over all those who participate in life.

We are already living in anarchy. You are free to do whatever you can Faust, but the government will try to hold you responsible for your actions. This anarchy fad is basically summed up by that cartoon -- people who want some authority to grant them lack of any authority. These people should really...

Courage vs. Cowardice
What is the difference? A matter of perspective? Courage is running towards, cowardice is running away from. Both happen simultaneously, so one's action must be judged by what he running towards and away from. Running away from a crumbling, unbearable life towards death would be cowardice. Running t...

How do we know this produces bad karma as opposed to good karma? Simply by looking at the effects of anger. Some of the observable effects are: 1. It tends to prevent a person from properly dealing with the causes of anger. They deal with the causes. Just because you think it isn't the "proper...

Re: Creation of a true artificial intelligence?
Millions of neurons are used constantly. There are hundreds of billions, probably even trillions, of them. They are small and efficient. I doubt we will ever be able to match this a creation of our own, and I don't envy the person who assembles this computer. Evolution was smart. It didn't bother as...

Re: Personality Disorders
Well, Celia Green's Human evasion is basically about this. How sane people are in voluntary delusion most of the time. And she explained it brilliantly indeed. Yes, most people can't stand greater awareness, they need to have delusions in their lives in order to function. All people, actually. What...

Re: Naturalistic philosophy denies life?
Anger is fine, in the extreme short term, for the person who is angry. That's exactly why people are angry - because it feels good . But anger can be very unpleasant indeed for those who are on the receiving end of it, or who are anywhere nearby and within earshot of it. Therefore anger always prod...

Our own AI, created by hundreds of billions of synapsing neurons, is much superior to the number crunching a computer can do when you plug it into the wall.
