Re: I have Realized the Infinite
You have to appreciate the level of Kierkegaard's sense of irony in everything that he said and did. That can very easily be viewed as a cop out. Whenever the philosopher isn't according with our view of what he is 'really' saying we can always attribute it to irony. I've seen it quite often in rec...

Re: I have Realized the Infinite
God, how wretched a slander. You'll live. If you only knew what I go through to post at all. We all are engaged in our own psychological battles. It's the nature of philosophy, right? Dare I suggest you are playing the martyr now as well? I remember all the criticisms that I post, serving it back t...

Re: I have Realized the Infinite
Why do you think that? Because it is, in my estimation. One I've tried to describe "these parts" as penetrating thought in the manner of maverick existentialists like Kierkegaard or Nietzsche combined with some Eastern schools like the Hindu Vedanta or Jnana Yoga, stripped to the core. Ex...

Re: I have Realized the Infinite
Nothing has changed. People go on being lazy and arrogant, preferring the easy, rather than to struggle with the difficult. "Oh," they cry, "we are not made to think! Give us a pamphlet and an aphorism once a day ---- just enough to nurse us back to sleep with a contented conscience....

Re: I have Realized the Infinite
There is no question in my mind that Kierkegaard fully understood the Infinite, even at the beginning stages of his writing career. I can see it in everything he said and did. The freeness of his intellect, his depth of insight, the way he constructed his conceptual narratives to produce an ever-de...

Re: I have Realized the Infinite
One has to squint pretty hard to come to the conclusion that Kierkegaard definitively equated God and Totality, in my view. It sounds to me like you are having a bit of a bet each way, Kelly. Kierkegaard was certainly insightful and rather unique as a Christian writer but supporter of the 'house phi...

Nabokov: You actually sound like David! Good dog! Not just religious, practically austistic. My first thought on seeing you speak on youtube was of giving you a hug! I could feel the emptiness. I bet you a million bucks of someone else's cash that the child who will go straight ahead and disobey will be a boy, or a tomboy. Or they will complain and protest, until the parent gives in. Girls don't just learn to be submissive and obedient: it's natural to them not to take risks. I've met qui...

Re: On David Quinns' WOMAN EXPOSITION....
It is really rather simple, painted in this way: If you, David, had existed a thousand years ago and had the core and essential drive or desire for knowledge or to break out of restrictions (however you define yourself, which is not necessarily what you are, but you get the idea), the map of your j...

Re: Wisdom of the Infinite Regress
As Ataraxia agreed, the experience of time is shared and inter-subjectively correlated. To me that implies that it has some sort of existence independent of our experience of it, so that experience is really irrelevant to the issue. Given that we are all of the same species it is hardly surprising ...

Re: Wisdom of the Infinite Regress
I don't see your point. my point is you didn't read properly David's reply and that by conflating time and Nature, you missed his point. I think you basically mean that "time is a bounded part of the Totality, and is not the Totality itself" - correct? If so then I still don't see any rel...

Laird: I'm not seeing anything in David's answer that might affect the integrity of my analysis. To quantify duration is not to make any assumption that rejects the "seamlessness" of time, Ataraxia: David said the seamlessness of Nature, not time. Laird: Owing to the fact that it's time t...

It seems to me like you are in denial of physical reality. Not denial. Seeing it for what it is. Why would I deny physical reality, it's all around me - it is me. I don't disagree with the claim that our experience of colour is what makes colour colour. However, unless it can be demonstrated that p...
