Hi Danny, We were just discussing you yesterday, wondering where you've been. We've conjured you back into existence. - I've been busy trying to figure out if I give a shit anymore. I've been getting all political lately. It's depressingly stupid of me I know but I think I'm getting over it. Unknow...

Can it be true?

I don't believe my eyes lately. Unknown is actually attempting to make sense, to be coherent, to say something meaningful. The scary part is he's doing a better job than a few others around here.

My world is unravelling.................ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh......

Re: Bush's God

I'm not sure we can really infer anything from Bush's reactions. I think he's just a dolt who doesn't know how to respond to anything until someone tells him. At bottom I suspect his Xianity is akin to Sadam Hussien's embrace of Islam. Politically convenient but not really there in the consciousness...

Re: Why is it so?

You guys seem to think that your "reality" is the only one, but it boils down to the fact that, although your arguments are clever, and well worded, it is still your own opinions. Women have no original thoughts. They only follow everybody else. Not unlike you lot following Jesus (how did...

mmmmmmmmmmmmm? So, he is an idol of sorts. Can't you men have an original thought? Oh, gee, sorry, it is only women who follow everyone like sheep, please excuse me. I think you should stop and consider whether or not you are embarrassing yourself needlessly. Firstly, women do not follow like sheep...

Nationstates Sim Site

Nationstates Got directed to this site by another board. It's kind of interesting. You create a nation from the ground up and control aspects of its politics etc. It gives you daily issues to deal with. You can create a serious libertarian state or a psychotic armed fascist regime etc. Dan Rowden

The Contemplations of Foresta Gump

This is a thread specifically for the poetry of Donna Thompson, aka Creativegal, aka Foresta Gump. I'd ask that no-one else post in this thread. If anyone wishes to discuss the content of any given poem they can start another thread for that purpose.

Thankyou.

A place for your "poetry".

Hello Donna, I'm going to create a thread especially for your poetry. Rather than start a new thread for each poem you post I'd prefer that you posted them all in that one thread - otherwise we'll end up with a bunch of threads with little or no actual discussion. Each post within that thread can co...

Re: Why is it so?

Even you budding philosophers are attempting to work out why you are here, just by trying to work out the workings of the universe. Do you think you could attempt that by not putting the boot into "WOMAN" or "women" every opportunity you get? Just wondering, cos it makes you app...

Caring for others.

Matt asked David whether he "cared" for other people. I think the answer to that - logical rather than emotional - is that yes, one cares for humanity's survival and sanity (to whatever degree that can be established) because consciousness is necessary for the propagation and survival of W...

My Reasoning

The word is "faggot". Fag is an abbreviation. It means bundle of sticks or a ball of chopped liver bound with herbs and bread crumbs. Mook will have to elaborate some as I don't see his point either.

Free will and Sudden events..

I have alwayes invoked my own anaology, in cases of "free will" arguments, of what we universally refer to as "sudden events". I'm sure I don't have to give an example. Free will is like this - an apparent freedom from known causes based on an inevitable ignorance of the totality...

DELUSION

Well, the standard line here with regard to absolute truth goes something like this: an absolute truth cannot be falsified; it is true in all possible worlds. So, that would make everything else -- including belief -- an illusion, wouldn't it? What, then, could you be uncertain about? I like the et...

Brunner wrote a book called Liebe, Ehe, Mann und Weib (Love, Marriage, Man and Woman). It has been translated into French with the title L'Amour . Spinoza on Women

I didn't know Spinoza wrote about women, Dan. What did he have to say about them? He didn't say all that much actually, which of itself expressed his view. Basically he was dismissive of women and regarded them as lesser beings. When speaking about democracy he said this: But, perhaps, someone will...

best book

I'm not sure that looking at literary works in a hierarchical way benefits anyone. Who is it that is making such judgements? A wise person? Obviously not. If something resonates with you and inspires you then it is worthwhile. Poison is a work for someone with the "eye". If it doens't reso...

Why the King James version of the Bible? Why not just assume an amazing mathematical configuration in my pubic hair? In other words - what's your point? What's the point of assuming any such thing? And where's the logical correlation between "unique", as you put it (a silly use of words in...

Spinoza

A couple of things regarding Spinoza: 1) Spinoza was a Jew, not a Christian. He was expelled from his particular Jewish sect for his "atheism"; 2) I agree with David that he overdid his geometric proof methodology and this seeming deference to academia was a real black mark against him. Th...

I could care less what Xians think about anything, same-sex marriage included. If you don't believe in it, don't do it, but don't impose your moral schemas on the rest of us when you can't even begin to coherently demonstrate the veracity of the belief structures underpinning such schemas. In short ...

Found this recently. It's a tad tongue in cheek and I have no idea if the claims are really verifiable. I don't believe people were being executed in the streets at the height of IRA activity. I don't believe it happened when England was at war with entire nations.
