Re: Personality Disorders
''In 1988, psychologists Shelly Taylor and Jonathon Brown published an article making the somewhat disturbing claim that positive self-deception is a normal and beneficial part of most people’s everyday outlook.'' Well, Celia Green's Human evasion is basically about this. How sane people are in v...

In order to have time to think things through, from a distance. To 'research themselves' as Heraclitus would say.

Re: an entrance to the Way
I too, took the avatar as a sign of sheer, slap -you in -the -face wisdom. Finally I thought, someone learned something from the ill manner the QRS are approached with and realized he must go about spreading wisdom by way of deception. It must be that it serves as a disguise, to fool the unworthy on...
Re: Cui Bono?
In the same book and elsewhere Nietzsche calls them the purest and strongest of races that could if pushed enough by present antisemitism, rule Europe by itself.
Nazis must've had a hard time navigating through passages like that.

Re: The distress of rape
Sparta was well known to have a rape rate of zero. Course, they didnt have nuclear family homes where there would be no witnesses. The Grandmothers owned the communal houses the women lived in. The boys, at age 8 were moved into the barracks, so there wouldnt be any big boys in the house to do any ...

Re: Schizoid: The enlightened personality disorder
As they say, some are born on third base and think they hit a home run. To who are you referring to? If you speak about me, then say so. I do not appreciate this impersonal tone, and your remark is out of place. I never claimed I am enlightened because of it, nor that I am enlightened at all. Those...

Re: Poison for the Heart - and Women
I would just like to add that good targeting of the book is not only important to getting the best result for the dollars and effort expended, but also minimises the creation of anti-wisdom. The more the book is exposed to the mainstream the more academics and commonfolk etc will work no nullify it...

Re: Schizoid: The enlightened personality disorder
In the wiki article http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Schizoid_p ... y_disorder on the disorder it says less than 1% of the population are affected by it. And here we have David, me, and Neil and TJ reporting symptoms.
Re: Music
There is a very insightful thought in Plato's Symposium about this. There were Socrates, Alcibiades etc. and one of them says something like: 'No musicians, for we are men able to entertain ourselves, with our discussions.' Music often stifles thinking. Why is there very loud music in clubs? So peop...

Re: Schizoid: The enlightened personality disorder
The disorder might still exist from the point of view of an observer making normative judgements, but the key difference is consciousness. Does a SPD sufferer know their own state? I'm not sure what you mean by knowing ones state. I always knew I was different. Are you asking whether a SPD actually...

Re: Schizoid: The enlightened personality disorder
So, is a person a schizoid because he is enlightened, or is he enlightened because he was born a schizoid? It would work both ways in a sense. If you are born schizoid (that is it shows in you say in early adulthood), you have already some aspects or at least important predispositions for enlighten...

Schizoid: The enlightened personality disorder
Not completely, but there seem to be striking similarities between the symptoms and the aspects of enlightenment. Consider the symptoms, According to the ICD-10, schizoid personality disorder is characterized by at least four of the following criteria: * Emotional coldness, detachment or reduced aff...

Trevor: Best of luck, mate. Tomas: I never got around to asking you this. Do you and your fellow masons rule the world or are all those conspiracy theories just a great way for authors to make money off of books and stuff? I'll understand if its confidential, and if you respond in your usual way :(

Re: Testosterone – the double-edged sword.
Using the testosterone theory, in my experience aggressive outbursts happen in men with low to medium testosterone levels. Once the testosterone reaches a higher level, aggressive outbursts would be too aggressive to let loose, so they are suppressed. This coincides with something I noticed, and th...

It has the benefits of a cardio exercise, and an anaerobic one at the same time. It also gives the best hormonal response If i'm not mistaken.

What a flowing display of one's attachment to one's ego. I am the wisest Laird, because I am enlightened but do not go around using it as an ego booster you see. Now that, I think you'll agree, is wisdom of a slightly higher degree ;) You have gone far, but you are still attached to your ego it seem...
