Re: Partisan Issues....
You don't like to speak directly to anyone, do you, daybrown . It seems like you like to whistle in the air a bit, after someone confronts you, and then go right back to pontificating on subjects related and less related to whatever discussion is going on. Case in point is abortion, which has gone ...

Was it all worth it? Knowing he doesn't have long to go, this singer of songs asks himself.

Re: Plato: On Truth and Falsehood ( Texts: Phaedrus)
Plato also understood that truth, ultimately, cannot be defined, and the moment it is, it would cease to be true. It's not as simple or dogmatic as DQ 'believes'. I refer to the old Greek bloke's story about 'The Cave' - remember? It depends 'where' DQ is in relation to his 'Ideal', which would dete...

Re: Plato: On Truth and Falsehood ( Texts: Phaedrus)
Those who demonstrate their ignorance with nasty little 'stabs' do nothing but illucidate how mean and SHALLOW they are. Plato's ideas - of which Boyan knows 'O' - are very related to the nature of ultimate reality, enlightenment, truth, courage (QRS) bla, bla, bla. But instead of considering what ...

Looks like another (insert the name of a well known philosopher here) vs the QRS thread.

Re: Are Blacks Inferior to Whites?
Boyan, Next-time don't make comments towards my questioning. It's sometimes better to ask questions then to assume you know what the other person may mean, imply, or whatever... Why do you care why does he cares, ha? Why do you care why I care? [Were these questions meant for you. NO] Then you go o...

maestro, Are Blacks Inferior to Whites? Why would you ask this? Why do you care? How will the answer help (or discussion)? What do you mean by "blacks" and "whites" and what does inferior mean? Why would they be or why would they not? For one their location and upbring greatly i...

Life expectancy is longer, but that's mostly because the number of childhood and infant deaths is very much lower than in the past. The longevity of those who reach adulthood hasn't changed much if I'm not mistaken.

Re: Conscience
Everything was created by nature, nature, or some combination of the two. Your point? I can see how people could take their conscience seriously if they thought God was up there dictating to them and they would go to hell if they disobeyed. However now that we know it has no meaning and that it act...

Re: An Analysis of the Male and Female Brain Structure
There was an attempt on explaining genius from a physiological perspective in Schopenhauer's 'On genius'. I vaguely remember that part though. Might wanna look into that as it is an insightful, concise work.

Who can resist Freddie Mercury and Queen? Well, whoever thinks he can is in serious delusion :) No seriously. This song and a suitable video are about his disease induced dementia. Re: Hume against 'QRS'
I don't rate Hume very highly. I find his thinking pedestrian. He made some good, if fairly obvious, points about causality, which is admirable, but you won't find much wisdom in him. - I think that focusing on his contribution to the problem of causality is what makes one overlook the rest of his ...

Re: Hume against 'QRS'
Neil: I was going to say "Jesus" or "Diogenes" or "Buddha", but I didn't think you'd care. Hume is, however, definitely a philosopher that has been strongly defended by David in the past. That he hasn't updated his website to reflect this fact is actually commendable: ...

Re: Hume against 'QRS'
Oh, you must be new here. We've discussed Hume in the past. It may not be up on David's website, but there has been indications that all three lifetime members of QRS enjoyed reading Hume, and believe themselves to have the correct interpretation of his writings. Of particular interest is his inter...

Re: Nietzsche against 'QRS'
. Question: What language (dialect) of German did this Nietzsche do his writing in? I know, his "sister" did some of the 'glossing over' (interpreted) on his latter works, as his 'mental condition' sank... And just who, in particular, translated his works into what form of "English&q...
