Re: A Strategy For Sages to Survive as Travelling Vagrants
Ryan, I've been thinking a lot about how to finance a sage lifestyle. I think the black/grey markets are ideal for a sage. You could make enough to support yourself with hardly any work (by growing weed, for example). Another idea is to do seasonal contract work (such as tree planting or fruit picki...

Debating a christian - how would you destroy this argument?
Mortimer Adler's argument for the existence of God (Wikipedia) : In his 1981 book “How to Think About God”, Adler attempts to demonstrate God as the exnihilator of the cosmos. The steps taken to demonstrate this are as follows: 1. The existence of an effect requiring the concurrent existence and ac...

Re: Can government be benign?
Why not abolish the State altogether? I can't see any reason to give one group of people (the government) all the guns and then let them tell everyone else what to do. It seems that hardly anybody considers a stateless society. I used to think it would never work, but now I can see that it was just ...

Re: A handout for statists
Molyneux seems pretty smart. He nicely refuted the argument for government in that article. I found his website: http://www.freedomainradio.com. I see he's a philosopher and a true atheist as well. He upholds logic and reason too. I think he'd make a good guest on the reasoning show. Maybe QRS could...

Wow, this guy's got good ideas. Brilliance! The free market is clearly the best way to solve environmental problems. Funny how the environmentalists all want more socialism. They like to protest the problem but haven't any idea of what the best solution is.

Re: Weekend watching: Milton Friedman on limited government
So smart... no socialist could withstand his logic. It boggles my mind that these ideas aren't being implemented. People should be screaming for limited government... if only they weren't dumbed down by the government that seeks to increase it's power. A really good website about individualism and c...

Ron Paul, Taoist Sage
Check it out: Ron Paul and Lao Tzu share the same political philosophy. These are some chapters from the Tao Te Ching that most directly speak to Paul's policies, though Paul's philosophy is in harmony with the rest of the work as well. From the Stephen Mitchell translation of the Tao te Ching by L...

Re: Can anyone beat this?
Ryan, I used to believe in the global warming 'consensus', but after reading up on the other side of the debate, I must say that the man made global warming theory is a fraud. And Hillary Clinton... what the hell!? Isn't she the oligarchy's selected candidate (she attended Bilderberg '06)? Doesn't B...

Re: The U.S. and the 10 steps to fascism
The "Ron Paul Revolution" will come at the expense of health care, education, and social services. Thats what I thought too, until I started reading up on Austrian economics (free market). I came to realize that socialism sounds good if you don't understand economics, but a free market is...

Re: The U.S. and the 10 steps to fascism
Dan, the US actually didn't have an income tax until 1913. Government funding comes from indirect taxes (corporate, property, gasoline, etc), borrowing from China, and of course inflation of the money supply.

Ron Paul could save the country
While the situation in the US is definitely grim and deteriorating, there is a decent chance that the people might be able to turn things around through the Ron Paul revolution. Despite the media's attempts to keep him out of the race, he is breaking out. On Nov.5, his supporters organized a "m...

Re: Professor of Finance on 9/11/2001 insider trading
Yes, the government is completely corrupt in a dozen different ways. False-flag terror is a much higher level of corruption than the average man is aware of. Now what? Inform the masses. Only when people are mad as hell is there gonna be a chance of returning integrity to government. And Ron Paul n...

The root of the worlds problems
I would say that the monetary system that governs the world is the most pressing issue of our time. I found a few excellent quotes to illustrate my point: "I am a most unhappy man. I have unwittingly ruined my country. A great industrial nation is controlled by its system of credit. Our system...

I found this documentary to be quite mind-opening:
The Great Global Warming Swindle.
Its a refreshing watch in contrast with all the one sided reporting in the media. Whatever happened to looking at both sides of an issue?!

But I think Ron Paul is a genuinely good candidate and warrants our votes. I think he understands pretty well how corrupted the system is and I believe he would work on the ...

Re: Spreading wisdom on the web
Ideally, looks shouldn't matter to people looking for information. But the reality of the situation is, in my experience, that there is way too much info on the web and the surfer must filter out alot of sites based on first impression in order to find what he needs. If I had never seen this site be...

I think Kelly has a bias against vipassana because it's Buddhist, and thus keeps a closed mind towards it. To counter, the actual retreats don't involve any rituals or beliefs, and the rules, while strict, are there for practical reasons. The fact remains that a vipassana retreat can be quite useful...

Hello John, I seem to have alot in common, though my despair isn't quite that intense... I've been too busy to really immerse myself in philosophic thought, unfortunately. I'm also new, 20 and existentially confused. Being an honest man, I can't stand having false beliefs, I can't justify an ignoran...
