Re: Enlightened! Really?
Buddha had no ego because buddha, even more so than ego, was a constructed fiction. "Take possession of thy kingdom, cast the Pope into prison, and have Jesus, Buddha and Solway shot". -- free after Nietzsche's "insanity letter". Yes, a constructed fiction created by another con...

Re: Enlightened! Really?
If the Buddha had pride or was proud of himself & his accomplishments , it would only serve his ego.Dennis Mahar wrote:a little spiritual pride is fine.
you do the same.
celebrating.
astonishment.
lets round up a posse and kill the bastard.
But being that he had no ego, there couldn't be any spiritual pride.

You're sorry you even mentioned it now I suppose. LOL Dosn't really bother me one way or another. I'll try not to use ellipses so much. I do write as I think and speak. I do write "stream-of-consciousness" It will be a challenge for me. I guess I don't feel self conscious about how I write.

Why all the periods? Because I'm... fertile Bloody funny! Or too much trailing open-endedness. Female thinking....? Fe = Iron Ironmale thinking ? :) When talking....don't you pause ? This is the natural rhythm of my voice...when I type..it's how I talk....the "trailing off" is simply how ...

Re: Giving up on enlightenment
When love beckons to you, follow him, Though his ways are hard and steep. And when his wings enfold you yield to him, Though the sword hidden among his pinions may wound you. And when he speaks to you believe in him, Though his voice may shatter your dreams as the north wind lays waste the garden. F...

Re: Giving up on enlightenment
I think what Dennis is saying...is that Love is just Love. The nature of love is just love. Real love does not need to attach itself, smother another. It is free A free spirit only the ego needs to be loved and love (attachment/selfish) love is just love (free alone, non-attachment) if you truley lo...

I am just concerned. Yes, he is your husband, and you should be. I'm sure this is hard to talk about with friends and family ...thus you felt the need to come here . Not all here are qualified to give you advice...including myself. I am just a romantic, with a little bit of level-headedness. As far...

Some call it Brahman
Some call it God
Some call it Emptiness
To me it's all the same.
Concepts
Yes, the Ego wants eternity...so why is the Universe zillions of years old ?
Whatever this is or isn't, is eternally nothing or everything or both or neither.....

rehashing old script doesn't make a difference. there must be 30 trillion books around also scripted. Yeah, but doesn't it just go to show that things of this nature (truth) doesn't change ? Dear Kunyab...
You feel your husband has drifted off into another reality.......maybe you could take a vacation to his world, and travel together for a while....
It may help you understand him more....and be more at peace ?

Re: Enlightened! Really?
Kunga, Thanks for your words and the link to the story of Rumi. This is also what my husband keeps saying There is one eternal, simple truth: I AM. And because that is so, everything is because I AM. I AM God the Creator, everything else I am not, although I can be if I so choose. But I say you hav...

Pam... Thought cannot reach this state of truth, here feelings are of no avail. In this true world of Emptiness both self and other are no more. To enter this true empty world, immediately affirm "not-two." In this "not-two" all is the same, with nothing separate or outside. Xinx...
