Dave Sim's Metaphysics
Sim's idea is that there are two beings in the Bible and the Koran. There is God, who is a He, and YHWH, who is a he/she/it. Sim sees the Bible (though not all of the books) and Koran as a conversation between God and YHWH. God created YHWH, and YHWH thinks it is God. In scripture is God trying to s...

Re: Suggestion List
I think you need to read some of Sim's writings, specifically his Torah commentaries and cosmology double issue from Cerebus , to help you know where he is coming from. His being a cartoonist has as much of an effect on how he communicates Truth as his reading of the Torah, Gospels and Koran has. It...

Also, Sim said: You know, Greg, that may be either true, "true" or True but it's certainly something that is guaranteed to elicit a negative reaction from women, particularly in this case where you're attempting to take Weininger's intellectual argument -- "this is Largely or Mostly T...

Re: Otto Weininger in the blogosphere
Somewhat related, on the question of women having souls, Dave Sim said: On the first quote, I don't think this is particularly helpful, either given that we have absolutely no knowledge of what "a soul" or "soul" is, let alone who has one, who hasn't one, what its characteristics...

Re: Practial steps to enlightment
What were your possibilities? Being a modern person. What difficulties were you having? Motivation. Why did you have to exhaust all possibilities? Because I am an idiot. :-) What beliefs did you drop? That approval from the herd is at all valuable. Did you meditate? Yes. How often did you do it? Wh...

Re: Practial steps to enlightment
Hi truth_justice,
For my personal journey to becoming enlightened, what I did was exhaust all possibilities besides enlightenment and then I was left with no other option but full commitment [to enlightenment].
Is this what you are looking for?

Re: Enlightenment & Materialism
Spiritism and materialism are one, and are different stages through which the same person goes one after the other. The spiritual would lose its entire dignity if it materialized. - Otto Weininger

Re: Re-establishing fundamentals
Before making enlightenment the most important thing in my life: what is enlightenment? That is for you to define, but I would say that it is Directly Understanding Reality. Single-mindedness, perseverance, unwillingness to compromise, courage, &c. Hope this helps. It does. Everyone seems to ag...

Re: Re-establishing fundamentals
How does one take the quickest, most direct, path from philosophic and spiritual ignorance to total, perfect enlightenment? That is simple. One only has to make becoming enlightened the most important thing in one's life and the path will then be revealed. What tools and what virtues are necessary ...

Re: A Prayer by Dave Sim
Evidence of his having an understanding of God: Because I say what is empirically true: nothing exists except God, I am deemed to be insane. This is from Following Cerebus #11, November 2007. This quote, his other writings and his life have led me to this conclusion. It also seems unlikely that he w...

Re: Another great anti-feminist site
IIt is amazing what men will put up with just to keep their sexual security, they will listen to hours of mindless gibberish, and incoherent babble, they will work jobs they hate, they will get in loads of debt, make promises they can't keep, they will have many children to please her. Basically, t...
