Interesting. However, this presupposes time, which in my Platonist view, may be a mistake.Diebert van Rhijn wrote:Logically however beginning and endings themselves are "finites" and do not exist.

Let me tell you a story:jupiviv wrote:Don't take this the wrong way, but you should calm down a bit with the posting.
A man uses forums for thirty years. He comes to recognize certain toxic behaviors and their root.
He also develops a counter-strategy: accelerate past comfort zone.

But now look- he applies this to history and now calls everything a progression to the realization of this idea. This is necessary to maintain the fallacy that what we need are "new" ideas, not qualitative improvements, because the new ideas thing can be applied to an egalitarian mindset.

Another term is unconsciousness : a surprising lack of realizing why they do things, say things or which or whose purpose is really driving them. To mask the unconsciousness a habitual lie needs to be in place which ends up filling up the whole of consciousness: the self is born! Reminds me of Fred...

Re: Talking to the wall is not Genius
A thing + everything else (duality) = Non-duality. One describes reality, the other the realm of theory. Non-duality creates a duality in the world of theory, but does not impose one on reality. Also relevant is that monism describes union between the physical and metaphysical, which is a more comp...

Re: Females and Genius
Does anybody else find it strange that so many beliefs about genius say females are really incapable of it? Women's thinking operates in a different way; adaptive/inductive might be one term for it. Many possess a form of genius by intuition, to which they are more closely connected than men. Also ...

Civilization collapses because it succeeds, and thus does away with the Darwinian filter that determines that only people who are independent and realistic can be included. Universal inclusiveness, or "equality," is the sign of death.

I am fascinated by this concept as I have never experienced no-mind myself but I have read enough about it to make me wonder if this state is real or imagined? How experienced are you with transcendental meditation, of any form?

Philosophy informs us about what is real, and what we ought to do about it; our momentum carries us in some direction; philosophy may be mere corrections to that course.SeekerOfWisdom wrote:I no longer believe there can be a point to philosophy without the context of a real and ongoing action based on purpose.

A compatible definition of genius
The central insight of the book is its description and definition of genius. A genius is someone who makes an insight or discovery that has a significant effect on his group’s fortune and evolutionary success. This kind of insight could not be made by regular people thinking in a regular way, becau...

The root of what is pagan seems to me as: not written down.
In other words, a living philosophy, not an exoteric one.
It seems like a broad category in which much variation can occur.

The only thing I can advice is to take as well a lot of time to understand where some others on this forum are coming from or where they are talking about. Yes, but that's not logical. I've been using forums for 30+ years and this is a human trope that means "respect the extant culture." ...

"Inward" contemplation being when a person contemplates one's own emotions, mistakes, thoughts, beliefs, views, actions, and so on. I agree that most are incapable of this, but I tend to see inward contemplation as use of logic and intuition to understand the world, so it is not merely se...

Re: The problem of a perceived centre
Great question. Because the order is cause, and its results are effects. A good argument to that effect here: All order is local — which is to say the negation of the universal. That is merely to re-state the second law of thermodynamics, which ‘we’ generally profess to accept. The only thing that c...

Philosophy is entirely personal. I might say instead: The understanding of philosophy is entirely personal. There is no such thing as a direct communication of "philosophical" understanding, all you can do is provide some pointers, some vague signs through language, and if the traveller d...

To my mind, "there is no center" suggests an architectonic order. That is, all the parts support and modify one another, and through the interaction of them, order emerges.

I have known crow for several years and, while he expresses himself in a unique way that is initially foreign to me, I think he makes some very good points. 1. Absolute Reality exists and can be perceived through meditation (of sorts). 2. The intellect -- the calculating, self-based mind -- inhibits...
