Re: Expansion of the universe
I was being kind. I actually feel sorry for alot of you people, from what I have seen everyone on this forum speaks either surrealist bollocks or answers a question with a question. Whether all of you deliberately miss the point on purpose or not in every thread it is clear that foolishness reigns s...

Re: Top 10 Greatest Geniuses
Lets debate your definition of genius then because I think its flawed... Albert Einstein, although gifted with a prodigious intellect, had a very poor relationship with Reality. The highest he ever reached in this relationship was a sense of awe and wonder at the Universe, which means that his conne...

Re: Expansion of the universe
Well they already know that there are unknown forces in existance in the universe and they have named them/ Theoretical science is about building theories and models that can be tested against experiment/observation to see if they work and from those observations/experiments deduce how things work. ...

Re: Top 10 Greatest Geniuses
Levels of genius cannot be quantified by how useful the ability is in my opinion. I think that artistic genius's at least produce tangible and long lasting evidence of their genius and as such it is no great waste. To me genius has an ability/gift that is far in advance of what most people of normal...

Re: Top 10 Greatest Geniuses
There are many forms of intelligence, memory is a facet of intellegence. The term photographic memory is not one I actually like but if there is such a thing it is certainly a very great ability. Even those with "photographic memory" would be unable to perform the task because they would n...

Re: Top 10 Greatest Geniuses
Thanks for your welcome, but I hardly think an ability to memorise the number of windows/scales of every building in the London skyline in 15 minutes and transpose them into a well scaled drawing from a different perspective is merely a talent. The person in question is not normal, no normal person ...

Re: Expansion of the universe
Ok well this is a physics question not a philisophical one. Yes he thinks that the rate at which the matter in the universe is moving apart is accellerating. I guess that even though the density is getting less there is still the same amount of matter so the gravity within the universe is stable, an...

Re: Top 10 Greatest Geniuses
Yeah surely we have to limit the inclusion of fictitious characters and non-human entities in the list or we could start adding the names of super computers too... I appreciate Music, but I think to be good at music is a talent not really a genious thing, maybe because I am fairly good at music myse...

Re: Is this guy a genius?
Musicians tend to be over sensative and generally a bit wierd, and guitarists are famed for ego issues. Let me tell you no matter how much training you do there will always be someone more talented than you and that "studying" music is kind of bollocks. You say no musician can truel be a c...

Expansion of the universe
On a recent Stephen Hawkin lecture he stated that the universe is speeding up in its expansion. He didnt give many details or reasons for this. I thought about it and may be well out but I know that gravity alters the flow of time, as the universe expands and becomes less dense what effect would tha...
