For the other 'paranormal' phenomenons you mention such research does not exist or is not generaly accepted because of a lack in, or incompatibility with, scientific standards. Undoubtedly. I'm just pointing out that because quantum physics -- at least in the popular imagination -- deals with the u...

Quantum physics seems to be the answer for everything that we don't understand these days (consciousness, psychokinesis, out-of-body experiences, telepathy, you name it). Could that be because we don't understand quantum physics either?

I wonder if what you are looking for is the discovery of "particles of consciousness" that can somehow be physically or mathematically linked to electrons, photons, quarks, and the like. "Conscions", if you will. That seems to be the only way you can currently conceive of consci...

Re: PS:

But I wouldn't exactly say that consciousness arises from matter as much as I would say with it. Hmm, interesting thought. But ultimately, all things must arise from other things, mustn't they? Ahh, or maybe not: perhaps you mean 'arise with' as in the black silhouette arising co-dependently with t...

DQ: Molecules and matter are states of consciousness too, so I'm not sure where you going with this line of thought. [. . .] Salt molecules are as much a mental property as saltiness is. Is it really very helpful here to lump all things together on the basis that they are all states of consciousnes...

Scientists have mapped the chemical processes which occur when we sleep, dream, wake up, emote, fall in love, experience altered states, and so on. So there are indeed plenty of parallels/commonalities between consciousness and physical matter. These provide clear evidence that consciousness has ma...

To me, it's no more mysterious than trying to imagine salt coming from sodium and chlorine. It's a case of one particular thing emerging from other things that are entirely different. It is what we call change. The "chasm" between consciousness and non-consciousness is essentially no grea...

But at least we can describe salt using some of the same parameters (i.e. physical properties) as we use for sodium and chlorine. At that level, the change from one form to another is not so hard to comprehend. By contrast, consciousness and physical matter seem like such fundamentally different thi...
