Discussing Philosophy and Taste
Who cares about the taste? Or for that sake discussions of philosophy for the sake of discussions? That is bullshit. I hope, all of us have some questions that we are trying to figure out answers to and thus are sharing our opinions on the subject. Otherwise, why waste time? Let the communication fl...

What's it mean to be nuts?
I think a being is nuts if it cannot distinguish between real and not real (when it is confused about these two).
Not trusting one's experiences or accepting delusions as reality is nuts. I think, that includes viewing the cat as real ;).

games etc.
Diebert: I understand your question. I think transcending games has several implications, some of which of which should be a higher priority than others. The point that by being present outside a game you transcend the game is, probably, most important. Through having such personal experience one ca...

Time
I think, time is a characteristic of the delay between Cause and Effect. As such it should be a karmic attribute of the conditioned universe.

addiction to enlightenment
I wonder what would happen if the medical profession accidently created a drug whose main side effect was an addiction to enlightenment and wisdom ..... ? Would they be excited, or would they quickly withdraw it in horror? David, addiction to enlightenment is an oxymoron and thus, it is an illusion...

Philosophy is worthless if it can't be applied
Mookestink, thanks for a sencere response. There has to be a more radical (direct) way though.
Sevens, can you share what great you have learnt from Jung or Nietzsche ?

monocells
Yes, that was rather amusing. However, I do not think that life began with a single monocell. I reckon it would have to have been multiple monocells. What are your thoughts in this regard? How did we arrive at monocells again :) ? By the way, the idea of one 'Big Lump' (I mean that we are all one) ...

Playing games
Well, just like in the movie ExistenZ the question would be how one really knows the game is 'over' or understood as it is? Traditionaly the greatest illusion and the greatest prison is the one you don't see but is there. Another 'joke' of the game, one of its dances could be the conviction one has...

Can reality die?
Are your dreams any less real that what you see after you wake up? What happens to your dream reality?
Does your reality end when you die? Where does it go?
It's just another bardo.

Waking to the smell of coffee and sunshine
This sounds awsome. I like this mental image. I also feel hot for Leyla after reading her comments about lusting for criminals :). Somehow I think she is chinese.

Practical subject. Motivation
What is the general principal of increasing one's Motivation? What has worked in your experience? What have you done that worked to get out of lazy state of mind to do what you know needs to be done?

What is reality
I agree with this thought expressed at the very beginning of the thread. I think reality is measured as a degree of agreement (or acceptance). What we agree to becomes real to us. Reality is contextual in essence.Reality is a unity, more specifically, it is a unity of consciousness.

That was fun. Let's do it again.
Survival may be is just a rule of the game that we all agreed to a long time ago, forgot about it and still trying to remember. And why would we do such a thing? Just kinda got bored floating around up there in nothingness and thought to ourself, "Hey! I got an idea..." We likes it, Preci...

Cool topic
Salut, everyone. I think Otto did a great job delivering the western perspective on the attributes and interaction of the Ing and Yang. So this thread is a miniature, but nevertheless emotionally charged instance of the battle of the sexes. I agree with the original tone of Otto's book that there is...

Seriousness, Games and why we play them
Interesting questions. May be seriousness is contextual. Once anything is recognized as a game by a player, his consiousness transcends the rules of the game (he remembers). How in that condition can it still be serious :) ? Games where the main objectives include competitive survival (accepted by m...

What drives us. The nature of survival as a primal source.
I just discovered this forum. It is great. I have been reading everyone's posts on the matter. Very interesting. Survival may be is just a rule of the game that we all agreed to a long time ago, forgot about it and still trying to remember. But we are still playing the game. I think the true nature ...
