Re: The Builder, and the Plan

Much of the time, there appears to be a disagreement taking place amongst the "thinkers" (QRS, Kelly, etc..) and those who maintain the feeling aspects (Bob, Pam, etc...) and this difference is of principle but also of person. So the discussion always comes back to the person and their att...

Re: The Builder, and the Plan

Its whether or not talking about the person is the point of argumentation or whether or not talking about the person is a means to talking about an idea. Granted, when there is a difference of idea, there is often a difference of person which must be resolved in order to resolve the difference of id...

Re: The Builder, and the Plan

Genius problem is that members are more interested in people, than events or ideas. Reminds me of a quote: “Great minds discuss ideas; Average minds discuss events; Small minds discuss people.” -Eleanor Roosevelt That's a cheap shot Sir! Haven't you just spent a week talking about your GF? I think ...

Re: What blind spot to men have?

With that said, I believe the posterior corpus callosum (splenium), the bundle of white matter connecting the two hemispheres, is denser in the socialized female brain. And, if I'm not mistaken, the splenium joins the two halves of the limbic system.

Re: What blind spot to men have?

meh. Test anxiety is for pussies. ;) Perhaps so, the point is, maybe the point of dilineation between the male mind and female mind is not in the capacity for discrimination, analysis or synthesis, but in keeping interfering thoughts and emotions at bay. Perhaps that is the consequence of the addit...

Re: The Builder, and the Plan

Actually, the books are the lesser of digested material. I've read a lot more on the interent, independent of my trophies. I got no trophy for the web-based texts. No copy of WOTI on my bookshelf. Maybe I mentioned them as an illustration of my thinking, so that you would stop trying to tell me abou...

Re: What blind spot to men have?

Oh, so the scientist was trying to be politically correct by saying that women and men's iq's are the same which incidentally, nearly every study ever done on the subject confirms. That's truly laughable. Most studies before the dawn of the new millenium had results suggesting men had higher IQs. H...

Re: What blind spot to men have?

I'm not sure I agree with the correlates of white and grey matter as they are given. The grey matter, the cell bodies, are the switches, and the white matter, the axons are the connecting tissues 'tween cell bodies. To that end, the grey matter serves as the discrimator, and the white matter serves ...

Re: The Builder, and the Plan

Well, let's take another look at McGrath's account of the origin of personhood. I've only pasted a small fragment of a much much larger work. I strongly recommend reading the whole book, but I've only read through the whole google preview, still have to get my hands on a full print. A PERSONAL GOD D...

Re: The Builder, and the Plan

I am contending that having a dialog with one's god is holding a mirror up to oneself. The extent to which one bares one's soul is the extent one is willing to look into this mirror. If one's god is impersonal, what gets held before that mirror are one's ideas rather than one's self in one's entire...

Re: What blind spot to men have?

Umm, men are more likely to suffer from color-blindness, while a recessive allele on the X chromosome can produce a 4th cone type giving women 4 base colours instead of 3. But the fourth is a division of the Red to Low-red and high-red. Also researchers found the color red is mostly likely to excite...

I would like to add that perhaps in the enlightened marriage, the individuals realize an infinite distance between egos and that egotistical satisfaction is not even possible Perhaps they realize that the pact itself is an illusion. Who could speculate on their future self? The pact on applies to th...

Re: The Life of Osho

I don't know much about Osho except what is written here, and apparently he had a variety of nice cars. But what intrigues me is the non-attachment to attachment and non-attachment to non-attachment that gets left out of the analysis. Others will be attached to me, what can I do to prevent others fr...

Re: The Builder, and the Plan

Listen here, and don't go getting all combative. I have something to say that is a great insight. I have said already. There is no "person" apart from the appearance of them. Apart from the phenomenal person, there is no definitive noumenal person. This you already submit as the "ego ...

Re: The Builder, and the Plan

If it goes back to Tertullian, that's pretty close to the first ages of Christianity, so to me, that's traditional Christianity. The selling point of Christianity is that it is a religion about Christ as opposed to his teachings. Yet it seems to me as if he discouraged this, even refusing for years...

Re: The Builder, and the Plan

Yet it strikes me that this sidesteps the traditional Christian experience, which can be summed up that God is both Principle and Person. I don't think that is the traditional view, I think that is just the modern view. It really goes back to Tertullian c. 160-c. 225 (From Christian Theology by Ali...

Re: The Builder, and the Plan

You can just say, we only accept books that say "A=A" because to our minds that is the clearest expression of truth, nothing compares to it, so we just don't bother with any writing that doesn't immediately express everything in the exact manner which we are comfortable with. We'll set you...

I think you guys are missing the point. You can say it isn't clear and concise, but there will always be faults with every authorship. Re: For Ryan/Animus. Detachment vs Non-attachment

You guys know the scene from Peaceful Warrior, where Socrates takes Dan to a bar, and he's puffing back a cigar and drinking a brewskie? Dan says to Socrates "I thought we didn't do this." and Socrates replies "Its the attachment" Something to that effect anyway, good film, IMHO....
