Re: Truth v Belief
What does a belief in truth mean? A Truth is true whether one believes in it or not. A belief (in the way people use it) implies room for doubt. The very act of believing in truth undermines that which a truth stands for... We (is also a belief) have beliefs in appearances (Things are appearances - ...

Re: Antidepressants Now MOST Prescribed Drug Of All
Dead cigarette smokers are of little use to anyone.#1 In 2004 the FDA began to warn the public that they were seeing an increase in suicides among youth with the use of antidepressant medications.

Re: Altruism
BGen, The law of altruistic interaction functions in every created being except in man.Man is given freedom of will to realize the need for altruism and to observe this general law of nature. Up until now, without man being as he is, this altruistic view of yours wouldn't exist. In this way, man is ...

Re: Altruism
BGen, What do you know about altruism? I'd like to believe that it's a human quality, firmly embedded in our soul. It's the difference between good and evil and the ability to separate one from the other. An old and smelly man is lying on the sidewalk starving to death and almost unconscious. Most p...

Re: Depression and it's Attachments to our Society
Relo, Depression as of now is on a much larger scale then it was back in the day. Perhaps people weren't as open with others. It was once considered insane to talk about one's problems. Now, people set appointments with psychologists to do that very thing. The results vary, some feel helped while ot...

Sam, This was already covered in the debate. You can find it here. I can't find it, Sam. Can you show me the quote that defines... Me, Sam, can you please define causation? (What is it and why do people keep referring to it and how does their definition differ from your own - what do you?). Thanks, ...

Re: Conscious thought is not necessary for survival
Student85, If you clear your head of all thoughts, what is it that makes them return despite your intentions to keep them out? Unresolved, yes. However, sometimes facing repressed demons from the past maybe potentially more detrimental to one's mental health, then if we were to try and forget about ...

Re: Questions on a state of deep thinking and or reflection.

Would you mind sharing a few examples? sometimes some people just don't get what I am talking about.... Sometimes the mor...

average, What are absolute truths? I read David saying that the problem doesn't matter if you are enlightened since you are in a mental state beyond true and false, sane and insane. I can imagine this, it would be similar to someone who just doesn't care about true and false at all, and just watches...

Re: Can causality be infinite?
You said something about time being circular and repeating itself. I don't see how that solves anything. If causality were to infinitely regress a cause would take forever to have an effect, regardless of how you view its shape or flow, nothing would begin and so nothing would repeat. I know. Kevin...
