Re: Taxes...

The government uses our money to support itself and this country (road repair, military, hospitals . . . etc). Now, my question is: instead of depending on the people for this support, why can't they just print the money which they need? If the government printed all the money it needs, then (as som...

Re: What is Logic?

Sapius, Sagerage, in case you are following this; my responses to Cory are essentially also relative to your thinking… Yeah, it gets a little tough to understand at times. Sure, why not, but IT is not a thing in and of its-self, and so is causality for that matter. So I don't give "it" a...

No really, I've asked many questions and none of them seem to have gotten an adequate answer.

Re: What is Logic?

Cory Duchesne, If you were to subtract the factor "Socrates as mortal man" from the equation, then the occurrence of death would be impossible. Therefore, the fact that 'Socrates is a mortal man' is one of many causes contributing to his death. Well, when you say: "Socrates is a morta...

Cause and effect has no beginning and no end - how convenient. I can't rap my mind around that! (Is nature a donut?)

Re: What is Logic?

So are you saying that it is perfectly ok to imagine it either way? Yes (there isn't only one right way. The same thing can be expressed in many different ways), I'm just not quite sure of what you meant by this... so I find it illogical to say “nature” breaks-up any thing at all; it already is...

Re: Taxes...

Brad,
The goods' value doesn't change, the currency's value drops.
I see no difference.

So, the reason why this wouldn't work is because people are pigs and wouldn't be able to control themselves with all that money (extra money - no tax).

intelligent design, can only be understood by an intelligent being. I doubt a crystal or a piece of paper can understand what...it all means.

How does evolution take place, why, and for what purpose??? Sure, cause and effect. But what started this process and why?

Re: What is Logic?

Cory Duchesne, Logic is simply the act of identifying, or concluding what the causes are of a particular phenomena. Logic is an abstract tool that was developed to understand causation. There are innumerable factors causing Socrates mortality, but just to name one, Socrates mortality is caused by be...

Re: Overcoming the Ego

The ego is simply the sense of self. When there is no ego, then the awareness of the self doesn't exist at that particular time. Just like happiness doesn't exist when a person is sad and when a person is happy sadness doesn't exist for them at that particular instance.

Shahrazad, Printing money out of thin air is about the most stupid thing I can think of. Not to mention impossible. It represents wealth, but some people like you make the mistake of thinking that the green bills themselves are wealth. I still think that they are. Print $10 bucks and try to buy some...

The more money there is, the more that money loses its value. How does that work? (Ex. 20 bucks is always gonna be worth 20 bucks, no matter how much money you have. Of course prices can go up making that money worth less, but why would that happen when there's more money?) daybrown, You are not spo...

Re: Taxes...

DFBatosee,
.... makes sense?
Kinda...
if the gov makes money it costs money
So, the process of making money costs more then the actual worth of that money?
not to mention the more money you make the less its worth
How's that?
...so the price of stuff would shoot up
I don't get it.
